Why do some women use the word "like" in almost every sentence?

She loves starting sentences off with it, sometimes I catch myself doing the same between hearing her and her girl friends doing it. Lol

Well , its just does not mean anything... hence my answer..
Why would they do it? Habit , trend..

Example , Top end of Australia , they say " Ohh Nice day Heh " , Heh is on end of everything , if you are there for 60 days or so , next thing you are doing same without thinking.

That's why I was asking why, that just seems to be the way her and her friends talk, another example is I guess Shaggy from Scooby Doo. "Like, know what I mean?".
