Serious question for white men: do girls/women try to AVOID you on the street?

This is a serious, honest question, not race baiting at all, fellas. Do girls/women ever try to avoid you on the street? Like, if they see you do they act all weird like you're a guy coming their way and they try to avoid you like turning back or going across the street, or just try to hurry past you? Or will they walk past with no issue and even smile or say hello?

I ask this because as a black man, I have experienced this quite a few times, and I imagine other black men have as well. Not all girls/women do this of course, some have been surprisingly nice in passing, but often times females will think just because you're a black guy walking on the street near them that you're automatically threatening. So I want to know if they do the same thing when you're a white guy coming their way, or just because you're a guy period and not about you being white. Give your honest answers.

Other non-black men are welcome to answer this as well.

It's not a super regular thing, but it definitely happens. In my experience, it happens more frequently with White women than women of other races. Brown women have been much friendlier to me overall than White women.

I would never want to minimize anyone's feelings or give off the vibe that I'm trying to be dismissive of people's experiences, but I think White women in particular have a default tendency to assume that they're under more immediate threat than they probably are.

But... you know... those reactions come from somewhere, so it's not like they don't have a reason.

Right. I don't hate white women, I want to make that clear. I do have some white women friends, on here and in real life. But I do despise the Karens and the arrogant ones who think they can do whatever they want because they know the world glorifies them for being white.

I think white women have that idea that they are under more threat than they really are because feminism has taught them to see themselves as perpetual victims of sexual violence, and see men as the enemy. And more namely, men of color. It also comes from a very deep history of white women also being treated by white men as precious creatures to be protected and shielded from other men, both white men and even more so men of color. So white women are dealing with a double dose of psychological things they should be unlearning.

A lot of white women out there are absolute sweethearts. It's just that, because they are white women, they pretty much have to view the world through the lens of an IMMENSE societal privilege that colors their entire world view. And even more so in the United States.

They don't know any other way to see life, so they have tunnel vision and are missing out on so much life knowledge because their train of thought is constantly "I'm a white woman, the world wants sex with me, I need to protect my specialness and keep getting special treatment."

I’ve noticed more smirks and bitchy body language from white women in the state I live in. They don’t get skittish but bitchy. But I don’t get this from minority women as much.

Where I live it’s “cool” to bash on modest appearing white guys unless the woman finds the guy attractive.

Most (but not definitely not all) white women nowadays know that they are risking grave social consequences if they are overtly rude to a minority man. That is if they outright say something insulting to him. It could get recorded on a video tape and get misconstrued. So if they don’t find you attractive (or no offense; you appear threatening to them) they’ll act skittish because they want to avoid any chance of a conflict that could end badly for them. They’re more afraid to speak up.

So I can see the frustration you feel here. Especially if you are just going about your business and mean well. But modern societal dynamics have scared people into avoiding authentic communication out of fear of being labeled a “racist”. Even if the scenario has nothing to do with race but rather just atypical human reaction (the mood they’re in, if they find the guy attractive or not, etc.).

But if a white woman finds another white guy unattractive, threatening, etc. it’s less risky for them to verbally speak up about it. So fair or not they not only can get away with it but it’s literally encouraged for them to insult white men they don’t like. Especially if the white guy appears conservatively dressed and/or heterosexual. But of course if they find the white guy attractive then they’ll very conveniently treat him much better.

But I have also noticed that minority women get real angry, aggressive and loud if a white guy they find attractive doesn’t reciprocate the attention. Worse than jealous white women.

I had an incident a few years ago when a jealous African American woman walked up to my then attractive young Asian girlfriend when we were holding hands walking down the street in a farmers market. At first she acted like she was complimenting my girlfriend. She walked right up to her and said “oh sweetie you are so cute”. She was like “oh thanks”. But then the black girl got closer to her and said “no sweetie you really are cute” with a malicious look on her face. It became obvious she wasn’t friendly at all.

I remember smiling awkwardly, putting my arm around my then girlfriend and saying “ah thank you and have a nice day” and quickly getting away from her.

Bro! You are actually right about that with minority women. I've seen my own black women act similarly when I would date women of other races, or hang with my female friends of other races. I remember one time me and my Asian ex were checking out at the grocery store and a black woman came up to us but made a show of really just trying to talk to my girl, asking her where she found such and such. I think she was being maliciously kind on purpose, trying to send a sideways message that she's acknowledging her but not me because she probably didn't like that I was black too but with an Asian woman.

Also true point on white women being more scared now to confront a black man - and they should be. They already walk around believing they are all the shit and think they're untouchable, so a balance of karma is good.

White women especially young attractive western white women are some of the most OVERprivileged human beings on planet earth.

To their credit they’re constantly getting hit on and noticed by men all races. They live in a different reality. Since they are always getting judged on the surface then they likewise do the same. But they’re also very worried about societal approval and optics. So most (but not all) will avoid a scenario where they could be socially ostracized depending on cultural zeitgeist.

I have no good answer to that problem. Really I don’t. I can see why they are acting this way but when people feel like they can’t be (tactfully) authentic it really screw things up. But again I see your frustration. You might mean completely well to a white girl but instead she’s scurrying off. She would probably engage more in conversation with me but if she’s in a bad mood and/or unattractive there is a higher chance of her being nasty to me. She isn’t worried about being called a “racist” in that scenario if she being rude to a white guy. Give or take I guess.

But as for the jealous African American women. That’s another problem all in its own. The unfortunate truth is most black women aren’t that conventionally attractive. They don’t get the same amount of attention is their equal white, Latino or Asian counterparts. And that’s got to be very depressing and frustrating for some of them. Especially if they take care of their bodies and dress well. So the jealousy builds up in them.

But still that gives them absolutely zero excuse whatsoever to randomly harass complete strangers like what we dealt with in the past. No guy (of any race) would get away with that bs.

Yeah these are all things I notice as well. They act poorly because they know the world puts them up on a pedestal - and they actually do like that and don't want it to ever change because then they would be at a disadvantage. That's why you see mainly white women criticizing men/"passport bros" for going to Asia for wives, and criticizing those women as well. They hate the fact that guys are choosing something else. But in America white women are desired the most, and they know that. They figure they don't have to or need to respect anyone because all the reverence is put on them, and as long as the world wants sex with them, they will stay up on a pedestal of being loved and revered. That's what they care about. And when they are blonde they are 10x more foul.

I do have some white female friends who understand exactly what I'm talking about, and that is encouraging. It means they see things and have awareness.

It is sadly true, many black women are attractive, but not by conventional standards. A fair-skinned woman is the ideal of beauty in the world, and it does bother me when black women get far less Likes and followers than white, Asian, or Latina. I can understand their frustration with the world thinking of them as inferior - even many black men think of them the same way.

I try to be nice to black women when I can. I find them more approachable and our conversations are more genuine. I was good friends with a feminine black lesbian who used to work at my job. I would have gone on a date with her if she wasn’t gay (I was shocked when I found out she was).

But the problem is I don’t want to give black women the wrong message. I’ve had a few be VERY aggressive with me sexually. I had one very scary incident a few years ago when a black girl who I

Anyway one reason you see so many white girls acting surface “progressive” really isn’t because they seriously care about racial equality. It’s just a bullshit method to get the social “woke optics” and yet maintain the unchecked very real power they have.

But they’re going way too far now with their modern feminist bullsh*t. They keep doing shit that makes them more and more unattractive (excessive tattoos, unnatural hair colors, ugly nose piercings, not shaving their legs/pits). They can get away with some of that crap for a while but now they are doubling down and decent men (of any race) aren’t noticing them like they used to. And they have no one to blame but themselves.

Yep spot on right there. But when you completely depend on something that God gave you vs what you worked hard for it screws you up in the long run. Yep and sometimes thats why it’s a breath of fresh air to talk with black women. Less guesswork. They aren’t shy about letting me know where I stand. And I can’t remember a single incident where a black woman was rude to me when I politely said hello to her. None of that reverse psychology bullsh*t that white women often do.

But the problem is I am just not physically attracted to most black women. Sometimes I wish I was because they are often interested in me. I would have lots of options if I was. But I am just not. It’s not a race thing either. Physical attraction isn’t a choice you can make.

@ManOnFire just want to say thanks for posting a real question here. It was intriguing and productive. Good to share experiences. I wish we lived in a more perfect world but we don’t. But having greater awareness helps us prepare better.

Anyway I am just personally wondering is it worse to be (rudely) ignored or (unfairly) antagonistically responded to when approaching a woman (particularly a white woman).

I’ve had both happen. I know the sh*tty feeling of a woman scurrying off when you mean well. It’s less common for me but I’ve had it happen too. It’s just so cowardly and disrespectful that they didn’t even give you a chance. But it’s also possible they got something else going on that day that has nothing to do with you at all. They might not want to engage with anybody (we have all felt that way at times).

But that on the bright side that’s saves you time if you can let it roll off your shoulders. You didn’t waste your effort and chivalry sticking your neck out. As opposed to my more common scenario with white women. That is they might not scurry off but there is also a much higher chance of them insulting me to my face (for just approaching them).

Anyway you don’t have to respond to this. But I plan on getting out more and organically meeting women again. I want to be optimistic but this question got the gears turning in my head. I’m just going to tell myself to keep my skin thick and not take things personally (easier said then done I know) if I get the reaction from a woman I don’t want.

That is an incredibly good question. I think it is worse to be antagonistically responded to particularly if you are black, because a lot can be made out of that situation if others are around watching. Although there a ton of relationships between white women and black men, we still do live in an Emmit Till world where a black man can be made to look very bad just for being seen talking to a white girl in public.

I remember last year at the airport, I was sitting next to a white woman with her baby - who was actually very nice to me and we had some brief words about her baby, but there were other people around watching, and we stopped talking. I think she also perceived the same thing and then started acting like I was weird. A black man can still get hate just for being seen talking to a white woman in public.

There are some unique (unspoken about) issues white guys have to deal with. During summer 2020 my black housemate invited his friends over for a party (being the landlord I gave him permission). One of his black female friends was interested in me and walked into my room drunk & uninvited in the middle of the night. I won’t get into the details on a public post but I turned her down because I was just wasn’t attracted to me.

She got extremely upset and made a veiled threat that “you got a nice place here Joey. It would hate to see something happen to it.”

That scared the living hell out of me. Again this is summer 2020 when BLM was in full swing. I had to act all nice (which was absolutely ridiculous) and literally massaged her feet to calm her down. Could you imagine if the genders were reversed?

She also flat accused me of not being interested just because she was black (I never mentioned race at any point of her interaction). I didn’t turn her down just because she was black. I just wasn’t attracted to her. That simple.

Anyway this bs might be less frequent for white guys but it does happen. I just want navigate the best way possible. I actually got a date set up with a Latino girl. I’ll see how it goes.

- Being totally fair, it is true that you have a lot of "fatherless" black youth on the streets up to no good, and who walk in stores stealing stuff or will just take off with somebody's car after they walk away for just a moment. The "stigma" comes from the fact that black crime is more talked about and put in the news than white crime, so people become predisposed to an idea that if some shit like that happened, it had to be because it was a black person.

Yes. Women in general don't like me. I'm very quiet unopinionated nice friendly and withdrawn. Plus I'm moderatly overweight. I'm everything women hate. I'm not ugly just fat. i got bullied by girls in school and in life. women will avoid sitting next to me even if its just a seat or two away or the only seat left on a crowded bus. I am a while woman who grew up in one of the biggest cities in the Nation. So I was used to being around different races.
I didn't feel threatened by white guys on the street unless they were Hell's Angels or that type.
But I did have a horrible experience with two black guys wanting to rape me and the other white girl I was with. They kept talking about it in front of us and scared me to death. Luckily his buddy wasn't into it so they didn't. But ever since then I am skeptical about what is going through his mind when it's just the two of us on the street or sidewalk. Like they have a hidden agenda depending on how I react to them. I don't have that with white guys.

Even as a pasty ass white guy, I've been told that I'm physically very intimidating, but I haven't really noticed anyone specifically trying to avoid me in a crowded public setting. It's possible I'm just oblivious to it, though.

If I'm out at night, though, I've had women try to avoid me, but I don't know if that specifically has anything to do with me, or just because women are naturally more wary of men, in general, in that environment.

But I live in Chicago and see how many act on the buses and trains, and I started to understand why people would be cautious.. Allow me to answer as one woman that does that all the time and this is not skin color specific, race or creed related.

I assess everyone that I come across. All it takes is one second. If I have the slightest feeling that the person coming across could represent a potential danger, I will first grab my mace/pepper spray in my pocket and leave my hand on it. Next, I will definitely change sides and go on the sidewalk on the other side of the street.

As a further precaution, I always have the 9-1-1 number punched on my cell phone and all I need to do is to press the call button.

Again, this is a precautionary measure, regardless of skin color, height or body built but just based on my 6th. sense.

When Black people have dogs, they like dogs and are friendly to dogs and as a result my dogs are friendly to them. They put out friendly body language and the dogs pick up on that. The majority of people in the country are white, but blacks are only 13-14% of the population, yet commit more than half the murders. Blacks don't commit as much rape as white people, but like I said, it's a stigma attached to black people. When people see it, the media portrays it, then that's what people will believe. Obviously, not every black person is a criminal. Most aren't. There is a reason it is that way. It didn't just come out of nowhere.
