True! At least in the USA. We have a populist anti intellectual, anti education movement in our Fascist MAGA idiots.

But I'm not sure that hasn't always been true to some extent. I think a lot of people who don't have much formal education feel looked down on by those who do have a formal education. They are defensive about that. And bitter. And angry. And quick to point out that lack of a degree doesn't mean they are necessarily stupid.

It becomes a division within society like wealth and gender and race.

My experience whenever I share that I enjoy reading is pretty universally approval. Responses ranging from a simple "that's nice" to aggressive sexual flirting. Maybe it is an age thing.

I do agree the bar is low though and likely to lower more. Although everything is going to be spun around a lot in the next several years.
