Understanding the girls mind, is she holding back feelings?

We were so close. She would tell me everything, tell me secrets she never told her best friends, and come to me for everything. We got very affectionate with each other, started kissing, making out, and sleeping in the same bed. We dropped those things tough as we wanted to wait until we were dating. She just started college and before we got close she always said she didn't want a relationship while at college, even when we were close she said this. The affection is now completely gone. This may be because she is afraid that it would lead us into doing the kissing and stuff again which she doesn't want and into a relationship sooner then she wants. She said she wants to do friends stuff while we are friends.

Could she be holding back her feelings, because she is scared it might lead to kissing again and that is essentially a relationship?

Seems like a lot of feelings to hold back, but she doesn't even look at me the same anymore.

Just because we all have vaginas doesn't mean that we know exactly how each other feel in every situation. This is one of those situations. She could be scared and holding herself back because she knows its not a good situation for her to be in since you guys are away at college but she could have somewhere just lost interest in you. I think your best bet is to ask her. If you guys really care about each other and want to be together then you'll find a way to make things work.

she could have just been doing it for fun for a while because she was lonely.

i did the same thing on and off with a guy friend of mine

we had no intention in dating but every now and then we would lose complete interest in each other.
