Ok so I know it's really gross but is it normal to get really gassy before or during your period? And is there anything I can do to stop it?

What Girls Said
That’s okay, it’s actually really common to feel extra gassy or bloated before and during your period. It’s mostly because hormones (mainly progesterone and estrogen) fluctuate around your cycle. These shifts slow down digestion, which can lead to trapped gas and constipation. Many people also crave carbs, sugar, or salty foods right before their period, which can add to gas and bloating.
Things you can do to reduce it:
* Eat smaller, lighter meals instead of heavy ones.
* Avoid trigger foods (carbonated drinks, beans, cabbage, broccoli, fried or greasy foods) a few days before your period.
* Stay hydrated, water actually helps reduce bloating.
* Warm compress/tea (like ginger or peppermint) can relax the digestive tract.
* Gentle movement (walking, light yoga) encourages gas to pass and relieves cramps too.
* If constipation is the issue, adding fiber-rich foods a few days before your period can help.
