You are wrapping a supposition with an assumption and it is not genuinely a question but instead a whatif.

Mostly I am only concerned of what I think of myself. If I did what some people do, it may cause me to think badly of myself... but I don't have time to be my sister's keeper or my brother's. But then I am not obliged to think well or speak well of my brother or my sister. It is quite reasonable to think a shank is a shank.

Bc there are a few bolts missing in their minds. There's nothing that will "patch up" that feeling of insecurity. The best you can hope for with an insecure person is that they seek therapeutic coping mechanisms to overcome bouts of insecurity. Even with that, there's no guarantee they won't either (1) run from the one they admire or (2) try to control and manipulate the one they admire just to feel "safe" and "equal" to that person.
