Why are some intelligent, successful and goodlooking people insecure?

I know insecure people who are very capable, talented, attractive that are ogled and flirted with everywhere they go and constantly praised. How can one be so unsure of himself if he noticed the positive reactions he receives on a daily basis from everyone?

Not sure for men, but I’ve known a few absolutely stunningly beautiful women in life. Mostly in a professional capacity but some in a personal capacity too.


When you are told how beautiful you are all the time it’s no longer a compliment. It becomes one of those things where you are either numb to it or, more often, sick of hearing about it. You hope that somebody would actually see you for more than just your outward appearance. Cliché as it is - to be seen for the person inside.


Then, many of these women work far harder than they probably should’ve had to just to prove (to themselves and others) that they are more than just a pretty girl. (Since that’s literally the only thing people give them credit for) Because they work so hard they real benefits. The consequences is they seemingly have it all - beauty, professional success, and the apparent gifted life that comes with that.


Women in particular can be very mean and judgmental toward a beautiful woman who they assume have it all simply because of their looks. As often as it’s said, it’s rarely the case but truth is they worked just as hard, maybe even harder and put up with the random female hate AND the persistent male flirting and harassment that comes with being a beautiful woman. . At some point the entire pile starts to weigh on a person and she inevitably feels unsure of herself or becomes more cautious of opening up to people since so much baggage can come from it. This can be interpreted as insecurity but it’s just as often a desire to regulate the contact with others in their life on a personal level.

Insecurity runs deep. I had a "glow up" and receive significantly increased attention from women. I might be worse now.

1) They have impossibly high standards for themselves
2) Their parents or others set impossibly high standards for them.

Could be based on how he was raised. Insecurity can lock in at an early age and be tough to overcome

I'm not sure just something special about her beauty is in the eye. Haven't seen her in long time tho
