There’s a woman I know whose brother is a convicted domestic abuser and has been violent towards women on multiple occasions. Despite this, she still gets along well with him and maintains a good relationship with him. She also commented on a Facebook post about one of my friends being a domestic abuser and called him a “scumbag.” She doesn’t know my friend at all and has never met him, yet she was quick to condemn him based on what he had done. I’m not defending my friend’s actions, but I don’t understand why she is so willing to judge someone she doesn’t know for domestic abuse while continuing to have a good relationship with her own brother, who has done the same thing on multiple occasions. It feels like a clear double standard.

Does her brother still do that? Or he hasn’t done so in years? The answer is because her brother naturally matters more to her than your friend, whom is a stranger to her. But if her brother continues to do the same thing and she still supports him then she’s a hypocrite.
So you know of one example and suddenly it's a trend with women? Besides, this happens with men too. They forgive or trust their buddies, and some even blame the woman who was abused, but others don't necessarily call them out, instead they just proclaim abuse is bad in general.

This phenomenon is not exclusive to women, nor is it unique to domestic abuse; it applies broadly to human behavior in general.
So you agree not all men?
