Should society pitty women who stay in abusive relationships?

I will never understand countless times celebs and important women coming out saying "Abusive this Abusive that etc..." In all respect with these women with money and in no need to have men around why would they even stay in these relationships! Like what is wrong with these women can't they tell the difference between love and abuse? I thought women were smart but to stay in with someone who is abusing you is like asking a pedophile to baby sit your child and be okay with it.
