And if it's for themselves, then why do some women then insist that men ought to pay for them on dates because women already spent money to make themselves look better? I mean, if makeup and etc is just for herself, then it shouldn't be the man's burden to compensate for that, again, since she didn't put makeup on for him, no?
This feels like situation where they want to have their cake and eat it too.

1. Men do not pay for dates because women pay for makeup and hairstylists. I don't know where you got that idea,, but it is wrong.
2. If you were creating a new world and establishing a new set of rules for how things work, you would obviously make a different set of rules for dating. And if everyone on that new world grew up with that set of rules, they would accept those rules without question. They would be content to split the cost of dating. That is not the world in which we live.
3. Most people in this world maintain traditional gender roles and they do not expect that men and women will be treated in identical ways. Women bear children, nurture them when they are young, and take care of those who need assistance. Men are the protectors and providers.
A man pays for dates because he is demonstrating the way in which he will take care of a woman if she becomes his wife. You are not compelled to accept this practice, but that is the way it works.
4. So you are following a different sets of rules, which is your prerogative, but. . . how is that working out for you?
Ok dude, let's consider the effect of social media baiting for a moment.
A while back, a few crackhead women made videos attempting to make a case for why men should not only pay for dates of any kind, but pay for the cost of make-up, other accessories, getting to and from dates, as well as any child care/babysitting expenses involved. This was directly primarily at first dates, but not limited to them only.
These were not taken seriously by men on the internet, or any men I know, and the rage bait it produced truly backfired. Many women responded by saying they didn't want a man paying for anything on a first date and they were perfectly capable of getting to, from or leaving a date when it was an obvious fail.
My point is, I think the first part of your post asks a legitimate question, although it's been overdone, which is " Do women wear make-up for themselves or dates (or other's in general)? But the "who should pay part" doesn't deserve ANY attention, unless of course, you've agreed to be her sugar daddy!
Womem put on makeup to feel better about themselves at times, and to impress others. I used to use it to cover acne scars.
As for guys paying for dates, thats a societal thing i guess. I haven't worn makeup in years, and me and my date will either split the bill or take turns paying for each date. Thats just how i roll.
I do not need make up because I was born with nice facial features and I have no wrinkles on my face that would need to be hidden with make up.
I wear makeup rarely, but when I do it’s when going outside the house for myself and for others. And whoever asks the person out pays for the date.
You think we buy makeup to get a free dinner? That is the most delusional thing I’ve heard in a long time.
Of course you dont. You wear makeup to get attention, free dinners, favors, marriage and half the guys shit in divorce. And do so in competition with other women for the same plans.
A woman who wears makeup is a dishonest person and a cheat.
They do it to feel beautiful
