Why do some women change their personality when male friends are around?

I’ve been observing a specific behavior in some of my female friends that always leaves me puzzled. Have you ever noticed how a girl can be sweet, relaxed, and down-to-earth when it’s just the two of you, but the second her male friends walk into the room, her entire personality completely shifts?

It usually manifests in a couple of distinct ways:

1. The "One of the Boys" / Pick-Me Shift
She suddenly puts on a tough, hyper-sarcastic persona, starts putting down other girls or traditional female interests, and makes comments like "I just can't deal with female drama, guys are so much easier." She might even throw her female friends under the bus with embarrassing stories just to get a laugh out of the guys. This behaviour is ridiculus and desperate in my opinion.

2. The Performative / Overly Helpless Vibe
On the other side, some girls instantly shift into an overly delicate or performative mode the second male attention is available, changing their voice tone, acting laughably helpless with small tasks, or over-exaggerating everything they say to keep all eyes on them.
It makes you wonder where this behavior actually comes from. Is it driven by deep insecurity, a constant need for male validation, or a subtle competitive streak with other women?

IWhat about your storied, let me knoe them below!

For the girls: Have you ever had a friend who completely transformed or treated you differently the moment guys entered the group? Why do you think some girls fall into this habit, and how do you handle it without causing major drama?
For the guys: Be totally honest—can you actually tell when a girl is changing her personality or putting down other girls just to impress you? Is it obvious, and does it actually work or come across as a turn-off?
