Why do shy guys move so slow?

Even when they know you like them, they still move extremely slow. Why is that?

Depends on the guy and the situation (as is the case with most things.)

Maybe he's really dense "actually isn't sure" that you like him (men are TERRIBLE when it comes to subtlety).

Maybe he's not sure he wants to be with you.

Maybe he's insecure and doesn't really think about it.

Maybe he's insecure and overthinks it.

Maybe he's a space alien and he's only pretending to like you, and this whole thing is making him very uncomfortable.

The possibilities are endless.

If any guy is moving too slow for you, it's much easier for a woman to step up the pace than it is for a man ;)

As the guys say, fear of rejection is probably the biggest factor. if you know he likes you, and you like him, and you know he's shy, talk to him, show him you are interested and boost his confidence. if you don't have the patience for that then you make the move.

Usually when a relationship is "rushed", things don't end up so well. It's always good to take your time getting to know someone even though you both like each other.

The shyness causes us to overanalyze. Because we usually keep to ourselves, we don't know if a girl is flirting or if she treats everyone that way. You may think it's perfectly obvious that you like us, but something prevents it from being obvious to us.

because the first thing in a shy guys mind is to be 100% sure that he isn't too forward or going to offend you in any way...that is what he is most fearful of so he takes every precaution to be SURE that he doesn't advance at a pace that you are uncomfortable with

Like what the other guys said, there are lot of possibilities, that arises due to the shyness. I think it is OK for shy guy to move slow, but the important thing is he has to continue showing the girl that he is interested, before the girl lose interests and 'friendzone' him.

Did you actually tell him you like him in that way or are you assuming that he knows? Guys in general are somewhat daft when it comes to subtly, but will eventually pick up on it. Shy guys might pick up on it, but will over analyze and explain it away.

It seems rather obvious that those uncomfortable about approaching people in other social situations would also tend to have that issue with initiating contact with a girl they like.

Plus many shy people are that way because they feel things they say may be inappropriate or misinterpreted, and if they like a girl they may feel that talking to them may ruin her opinion of them.

Shy guys can be insecure and may be slower to open up because they are too afraid to make the next move, you can help him by making the next move for him and show him that you are not afraid and comfortable with him.

Because we all ready know, you will say no. See you want shy/nice guys to make a move to see how well he will do, but then it hits him like a ton of bricks. You see women love to play mind games that's why.
