You can treat a criminal or pedophile with respect. I wouldn't see why people can't do that. You can respect their views without agreeing with them.

It's the internet, though. So that's a tough feat given the amount of trolls and random a-holes that pop up from time to time. Anonymity is to blame for that, so there's not much to do about it.
