Why JOHN MAYER is a Hero Of Men



I used to think I was the only guy who was down with JM Music. He seems to have gone from a female fantasy to more of a Bro who makes soft emotinal music that guys are into more than girls. I'm generalizing of course, but talking not so much about his and more about the man behind the music...John Mayer...a hero a men.


He Grew Up a Loser...


John Mayer did not get off to a strong start in life socially speaking. His parents, his dad in particular, were advanced in age compared to other parents and kids tormented him about it. He also dealt with anxiety and depression. This caused him to, according to him, practice music an average of six hours a day in his basement rather than go outside and try to make friends in a hostile social world. Later before coming the living legend he is, Mayer spent a year working in a gas station to afford a really expensive guitar. He also started his career as niche blues/jazz musician before he decided to break away from his co-musicians to pursue becoming the pop phenomena he now is. These are all qualities of what one would consider a loser in life...

...And Ended Up Killing The Game


Except he ended up getting signed to Columbia Records and having his first full length record, Room For Squares a huge commerical success. Since then, all of his records have done amazingly well to the extent that many people can explain their music tastes as "Um, Kind of John Mayer Style" and people wil have a pretty good idea what genre of musicians that encompasses.


This is important to men in the sense that we want our hard work to pay off in a major way. It's a male fantasy to turn into a superstar who women would do anything to get with especially when you've come from the opposite.


He Didn't Get To Go To Prom...


Going back again to highschool, John Mayer experienced a sort of pain only the most losery guys go through--not getting to go to prom because you're too much of a loner. Even nerds can go with she-nerds, but a loner will have a hard time knowing anyone well enough to go with someone. They may stand a good shot if they just asked around but often times that's against the Loner Handbook.

Every artist hopes that his art will be understood. In reality, about 5% of what you want to say ever gets heard the right way by your audience. John Mayer might have sacrificed some pure blues elemnents to make his music more accessible to a mainstream audience but it allowed him to catch the attention of the most amazing celebrities in the world and even get to know them romantically and even be in such a position that he could actually dump them. Honestly, he may have set a world record for turning around one's dating life.

Whenever he tries to be funny he's racist and sexist when he's trying to be creative we get the crap that is Battle Studies, whenever he's trying to be kind he comes off incredibly arrogant--"oh yeah she's a sweet girl. I feel bad about dumping her." Many guys can empathize with this. Our desire to get things done gets in the way of just letting things happen. We don't want to be patient while we wait for that funny or impressive thing to say--we just want to force it out and it can come off stupid sometimes and downright mean others. Even though this is the reason most haters of John Mayer point to as his fatal flaw, to me, it makes him human and still struggling depsite being mega successful.

He admits to being wrong and to being addicted to things like validation, serial dating, and talking about himself.

This doesn't neccessarily do anything for women except make them more mad for trusting him and falling for his many sweet lyrics and melodies. Yet, own up to them he still does. This is what a man does. Owns up to stuff becuase it's the right thing to do and not because it will earn him points.


He Turns The Tables...


John, no homo, is a good looking guy, tall, well spoken, creative, talented, everything a girl would want on paper except of one little thing: his personality. Yet, despite all the claims that women really want an ugly, short, fat dude who dropped out of high school has no skills whatsoever but has a personality that makes girls just light up--John Mayer still does better with women than Seth Rogen. #justsayinthough #sorrynotsorry John Mayer continues to act like a scoundral and continues to date beautiful famous coveted women.

You can't rely on your looks and your talent...you're going to have to go to therapy and work on yourself if you ever want to be with a girl! Your angry ex yells over the phone as you're eating buffalo wings and booing the Cowboys on your 50 inch. You wipe your face, clear your throat, and say: "That's not true. John Mayer is a complete a-hole and he dates some of the hardest get women in the world. Sure, I can't sing, but clearly there's a hole in your logic somewhere." She goes silent, calls you an idiot a few minutes later, then hangs up. Ah, to be on top of the dating game.


So yeah, not only does John Mayer make some great music, but he's an inspiration to men everywhere an example of true Rake of the 21st Century.
