Have you ever heard the saying "if it's good for the goose it's good for the gander?" this came from the practice that men (including gentleman) had of sleeping around outside of the marriage vows. Prostitution was de rigor an acceptable past time for a young man, who eventually settled with a "good girl" keeping his mistress (es) on the side. Until the sexual revaluation this was more or less the state of affairs, then women began to feel that by rights they shouldn't have to be second or even third fiddle and began to take back their sexuality. And if a man can have affairs before marriage then by rights a woman should be able to as well. As neither see a need to wait then no body does. It's pure romanticism to think that men ALSO stayed pure until marriage. That was a rarity indeed. Is this what you want to return to?

It's called competition at it effects both sides of the equation. On the one side, lots of women have upped their competition with one another for good guys and are kissing on the first or second date and doing a WHOLE lot more after just a few more. That being the case, for a guy if a girl he's dating DOESN'T show sexual interest in him physically, he'll (often rightly) assume she isn't interested and so will pursue other girls who are.
On the other side of the equation, the value of the average guy has dropped a lot for the average girl. Women now have many more opportunities in the world of education and work. Therefore, they no longer find "normal" guys as valuable as they used to (think Ralph Cramden from the old show "The Honeymooners." That means you're all chasing the same small number of guys. And those guys have options meaning they don't have to jump through as many hoops as they had to back in the day.
