I see what your saying, I have never thought if the word "real" in front man that way. You are still a man no matter how you act. But I don't think using "real" is trying to be manipulative. when saying "real man", we only trying to get that man to see what he doing is wrong to become better. I don't think people have thought about it in a way you are describing. And a man should not EVER hit a woman! Even if she does hit him. Women shouldn't hit men either!

If you have a penis, you are a male, not a man. In order to be a man you need to:
-Be able to protect yourself and your loved one.
-Doing what the hell you want, as long as you are not hurting anyone.
-Strive for better.(This applies for being a human also)
The rest is debatable.
That's not what the definition of a man is. Try again. A man doesn't have to act a certain way to be considered a real man.

What being a man entails depends on the individual, race and even culture it's different for everyone.
I'm glad nobody ever pushed that mentality onto me. I am who I am and screw people who have a problem with that.
