What is a 'Real Man'

My definition of a 'real man' centres around this analogy in a pub scene.

You take your seat at the bar after work every day enjoying a few Jamesons in the company of people who you are on a first name basis with all minding their own business and enjoying the ambience. One who has shared rounds declines the opportunity to share a gripe they have with you man on man and gets in your face on a different night while in the company of his mates.

Stepping forward, rather than backing down, prompting them to wave fingers and utter obscenities but never step forward as well. They avoid looking you directly in the eyes and cower in response to you self-assured nature.

Pack mentality 101, or to lend a 21st-century label, 'ALPHA Male.'

A term supposedly defining 'real men' in this age. If anything it contradicts, betrays and should be dismissed with ridicule. The irony of 'ALPHA' is it is inextricably linked and dependent on the term it always pokes fun at, 'BETA Male.'

With it living vicariously through others, and garnering the 'identity' through comparisons. Embracing the label as a testimony to how they stand out in the pack rather than accepting the pack defines them. Face them in isolation and their rippling muscles, deep voices and false bravado means little with it only pointing to their absence of individual identity.

Or the existence of a transparent identity.

Similar to the pub analogy, cast aside their quintessential bluff exposing their lack of 'I.'

Within this defines a 'real man.'


A quality found behind closed doors and on two levels.

First and foremost accepting self, warts and all, by being true to you and never detracting from self.It solidifies the inner you with respect and with it ensures the principles and ethics to live life in an honourable manner.

Regardless of peer pressure or the presence of slings and arrows directed your way. I knew from a young age that I was the epitome of a black sheep and lone wolves offspring by being an openly Bi-Sexual man in a strictly Catholic society. Never thinking to sell me out by echoing 'Bah-Bah' to fit in with the status quo, instead taking the tougher path to know self, and proudly accept.

The open and honest deviant wearing lace G-strings to work and talking with an effeminate tone is every bit the real man as the gym junkie 'Johnny Football star' that is never seen without his cell phone.

Self-acceptance always the key, a term that exemplifies strength, bravery and toughness.

At this point, it gets a bit like Star Wars, tapping into this iconic quote

Facing a woman.

The presence of a woman is paramount in the boy becoming the man. One must be open to this, with so many these days betraying themselves by hating on women or buying into crazy extremes as seen in the MGTOW movement.

A 'real man' doesn't exist without a Woman's unique 'way.'

Having her love you for you and how it compliments and completes you. It is sincere finishing school, once more behind closed doors when you are stripped bare and one on one with nowhere to run or hide. The graduation is the feeling of soul stillness where the sense of oneness known with two heart beating in perfect harmony as if they resemble fat gold Swiss watches.

Within it, higher plateaus of understanding self, evolution in being and an assured aura invading all in a positive and uplifting manner. Helping you to transfer the meaning you have forged in yourself through acceptance by being a similar bastion to others.
