Man up just means handle things there is nothing wrong with telling someone to be a man it makes them stronger and to say something is wrong with this is just more PC Left Wing Extremist nonsense.
Thanks for sharing. While I disagree with the take in general, I appreciate you taking the time to share it with us
Thanks for reading, anyways.
No, guys need to man up
might as well cut your balls off if you dont
You do realize showing emotion doesn't make your balls shrivel up and fall off right? Crying over someone you care about dying doesn't make you any less of a man.
@coralee men show emotions all the time, just because its not exactly as you do it doesn't mean he doesn't show them. The fact is men cannot show emotion like women, men have fewer tear ducts, so they produce fewer tears, they have wider channels which means we have to produce more tears just to get the same effect as women do naturally (which again, we have fewer tear ducts so its harder to do) and we have fewer of the hormones that cause tear production so asking a man to cry like a woman is quite literally impossible. Its like demanding that a man with no legs stand up and run, its not only not possible its actually disgustingly prejudice and callous. Why do men need to act like women do? Is it not okay to be a man? Why are you convinced that men are inherently broken because we don't act like women? Don't you think that their must be some kind of inherent value in how we function consider that it has been men that have built and protected society since the very beginning?
We let women do the crying for us. Emotions are the enemy of man. Emotion interrupts our focus and concentration on the more important things.
*Yawn
Another feminist shaming men’s masculinity.
Don't tell me how to parent my children.
Suck it up buttercup.
no offence but thats easy for you to say. You and i both know that ladies what a man and not some guy who cries easily.
Nah I'll teach him to man up. The world is tough. He doesn't need unnecessary babying.
Thanks to teachings like yours society is full of pussies and feminized men. Please dont breed.
It feels like seeing a rescue boat.. In the ocean after your have drowned..
Men are not women. We don't cry and talk about our problems and suddenly feel better. We feel better when we make our situation in life better.
Look at this. A woman telling MEN how MEN should be. Great! :)
I dont like that phrase cuz its pretty much a shaming tactic.
"what, u don't act according to my expectations and definitions of masculinity? well U NEEDA MANNNNNNNNNNNNN UP" bleh
No, it can be but it's not. The proper use of the term is encouragement. Like when a kid fails at something and he just gives up people say it to encourage the kid to try again and not to give up even if it seems hard. It's like telling someone there is more to them than they are currently manifesting and they should try harder because we know the potential is within them, they just need to bring it out.
Generally i think the term "man" is used for boys because a man is an older and more mature version of a boy and knows how to deal with the harsh things life throws at them. It's a maturity thing more often than it is a shaming tactic. Exactly like telling someone acting childish to grow up. You can shame someone by saying grow the hell up or you can show someone they're being immature and they need to grow up, stop whining, and take responsibility for themselves. It's exactly the same thing.
@that1gi if that's the case than why isn't this applicable to girls since I'm gonna wager "woman up" isn't exactly a thing
No, there's another way people do it for women. Mostly they say that's not lady-like. Still the same thing just using gendered language for women. Boys turn into men and girls turn into ladies when they mature. So, you tell people that are acting childish to grow up. You use man-up for boys and lady-like when used for girls.
@that1gi I don't think it's childish to cry or be emotional/vulnerable
Crying or showing emotion is not the only reason to say "man-up" or "lady-like". Also, sometimes it is childish to cry, sometimes it's not. It depends on the situation.
@that1gi I could agree with that although I dislike either statement
That's cool, I'm under the impression its the meaning behind the words you use that are more important than the specific words used. As long as someone is really just trying to encourage people and be a decent human being that's all i can really ask of anyone :).
@that1gi that's a great point, good talk my dude.
Good talk :)
Men cannot cry, but reports say that men get too much heart attacks in comparison to women as they don't take their feelings out by crying
Thank you. My mother was a sadistic bitch while I grew up.
We can never show our weak/vulnerable emotions in public. People will look at us like we weird especially grown men. Happened to me a lot. People will lose respect for you.
Can't show them in private either. Your woman wants to come to you with problems, not the other way around.
And she'll tell you what your problems are too lol
Damn straight brothers. In a fantasy world people would want men to be open to showing weak/vulnerable emotions with no consequences but the truth is they are to be honest you better off holding it in or crying alone in private.
You don't need to man upbut it makes life easier than whining.
Thats true
Great words
I hate the phrase "man-up" especially because kids who grow up in an abusive house hold are mostly told this phrase and are most ones to harm hemself
tell me about it, I hate, despise, loathe masculinity.
