HEAVY METAL and the INFLUENCE that come with it?

I really need to point this out.

People are starting to point finger at metal because they are under the impression that due to
whatever metal band this guy, the shooter, has been listening to, is what caused him to do what he did. Him doing what he did is not on the band, nor metal for that matter, but actually on him 🤨

Let me explain

i'm not defending the shooter, i'm defending the genre, kinda.

i'm not saying that metal music can't have a negative effect, or badly influence someone,
because it can.

In my childhood, and even today, i have seen and still see many of my fellow metalheads lose their way, make bad decisions or simply just do dumb shit because of the bad influence it has/had on them 🙄

However, this will only happen if you ALLOW it to happen.

In my entire existence of listening to metal and kinda being part of the metal community, i never once had any thoughts of wanting to hurt or kill someone because of the influence the genre has on me. And i listen to some very very very very heavy, brutal, sick, twisted, gory, ass eating shit,..yeah sorry had to throw the ass eating part in there cos i be like that lmao!! 😭😭😭😭

My point is, i could tattoo a huge ass 666 on my forehead and the reason wouldn't be cos i worship Satan or any of that crap, but simply cos it'd look cool.
P.S.i would never tattoo that shit on my forehead but you get the point 😂. Also, the whole 666 thing is so old school and out of style by now lol.

I never participated in any of the dumb shit my fellow metalheads did that could put me in trouble 🙄

If Joey plans on throwing a snake near a kids playground because to him that would be fun and funny, then i'm not going to laugh with him, i'll simply just walk the fuck away or beat his ass for even wanting to think of doing such a thing because i don't want to be part of that shit 😑

Even though i'm kinda part of the metal community, i always have and will be my own person.
I don't follow crowds,...never been good at it anyways 😅

Metal never had a bad influence on me because i never allow it to.
My mind, soul, and spirit are too strong for someone or something to badly influence me

I listen to metal, and that is just about it. Another good use of it would be when i workout.

I have a whole playlist of Hatebreed tracks playing and i'm good to go, ready to get them muscles pumping 💪

Metal dosen't make you want to go out and shoot people, it's the people that made them want to Metal has nothing to do with harming anyone in anyway, some songs talk about it but every other genre does to and I find rap to be far more violent.

Nightwish wrote the song 'Poet and the Pendulum' and I've never heard anyone kill themselves after listening to it (song is heavy though). They tried this blame game with video games and cartoons in the 1980s and 1990s and into the earlly 2000s with video games.

Plenty of metal songs have anti-satanic lyrics (songs that warn of evil and discuss evil but are not promoting it). Music has never made anybody kill. Research mk ultra; it's the CIA that makes people kill.

Personally, I think the world needs more of Hatebreed. They speak truth, stand by their values and motivate my mind while they inspire my life... Many of times just hearing their message helps keep my blood pumping and forces me to push forward... I have always felt one in the same with these guys which by the way do not represent hate. I also want to note that throughout all genres of metal lies an individual message from each individual artist... As with any thing... I mean why would anyone think to lump every genre of metal into one subject matter... ? That's just dumb, especially for the majority who can't even understand or bother to learn the actual lyrics... This is ignorance at its finest I swear it... Overall I don't notice a majority of hate matters in the messages of most every heavy metal band... And I am well versed from what they can play on FM radio to what they will never. Say Lincoln Park to Megadeath, to Merauder to Chelsea Grin, Parkway Drive, Black tongue and cattle decapitation just to name a few. Some lyrics can be left to interpretation. It's not all about any certain subject or devil chant... I tend to notice or gravitate towards what I believe is the most prevalent and dominate theme in all metal which is power albeit strength resistance perseverance truth. I know what I'm listening to, as to say I sensor my own music as I want to chose to support it or not and why and tbh most of it is not condoning the shit they blame it for and even if it was the jackass doing stupid shit probably couldn't even tell you the lyrics of the song anyways. It's really just about pumping yourself up but it is every persons individual choices as to what they do, it's not the musics fault... That's like saying guns kill people... No it's the murderers pulling the trigger, the guns don't aim and fire off themselves... The people do, and it's all the same when people try to blame the music and it's a sorry excuse when you break it down to what they are actually saying. The music did it, I was easily coheresed, influenced, hypnotized, I have no control over my own self and guaranteed an idiot wouldn't even know what song did it to him or what artist produced it...

Agree with your general gist but has been going on for 20yrs at least. Metallica had heaps of drama when a kid killed himself listening to Fade to Black it be played at his funeral. That was 1984.

Thing is it always draws the weird and angry and sad people that's kinda the point.

666 is never played out or old fashioned. It's one of the most instantly recognised religious "symbols" and pop culture references. Don't mess with the number of the beast, that's some pre cellphone shit!

I don’t think the issue is with video games or heavy metal as both of those claims lack evidence. The bigger issue is sociological. What is going in their family, their friends, the school?
