No, to love you have to accept pain. You have it totally reversed. Love is to remove your egotistical desires. To leave them unanswered in service of someone or something else.

To love yourself is to detach your ego from your view of yourself. We pull pride and value from all sorts of things. Performance in the workplace, income, status, how much sex we have, how good we might be at something, our looks. But to love yourself means getting your self value from something that isn't fueled by your ego, because these are all weak things to pull a self image from.

The reason you can't love others until you love yourself is because many aspects of life are a type of illusion which can't be seen past until you learn to stop measuring your self worth with your ego. You'll never be able to see people for their true worth until you gain the ability to stop judging them on a superficial level.

You don't have to love yourself to be ABLE to love someone else no, but its better that way and I'll tell you why... I hate myself. I have struggled with depression for most of my life and I have a boyfriend. I love him, but I don't trust him. I don't trust him because I don't believe him when he says he likes me, which makes me irritated with him for "lying" to me about his feelings. I love him, but I can't fully love him because I don't believe in him. The same goes for my friends. In my mind none of them actually want to be my friends because I wouldn't want to be my friend. I can't even say the sentence "I love you" out loud. I can't really truly love someone because of this lack of trust, which I can only get rid of by gaining self love.

I think it’s best for majority of people for the idea of self love It kinda seems therapeutic maybe if ur more on the colder side or you aren’t too sensitive and don’t rlly give a shit if ur S. O ended up cheating or thought u were ugly cuz u set ur boundaries. But like everyone grows up differently and sometimes self love or acceptance is needed before taking a step into a relationship because most Can be a toxic relationship or end up in one.

I think that you are fundamentally wrong in your conception of what "love" is. I don't think that anyone means "self-love" in this over-the-top egotistical view of love.

Love is not 'unity'... at least not automatically. Love cannot exploit. That is contradictory. It's impossible. If it exploits, it cannot be love: If it is love than it cannot exploit.

Love has NOTHING to do with dominating. Love does not imply anything about "superiors and inferiors" in any way.

To be loving nobody has to "get fucked" (not in the way you mean here). In fact...(like with "exploit")... if somebody is getting "fucked" it cannot be love. If it's love nobody is being mistreated.

It seems to me that you've taken "self-love" and somehow twisted it into meaning something that is so far from what is intended when people say "self-love" that... it's not even recognizable.

I think you went down a bit of a rabbit hole in your thinking on this one. No offence. 🙂
