There was an incident I witnessed about 2 months ago whilst out with friends , a large group of " girls " launched a vicious , unprovoked attack on 2 guys that were just minding their own business. Also another case of a woman that had a history of attacking guys with bottles & glasses was let off.. YET AGAIN.. WTF , this went to Crown Court ( UK higher court ) she was found guilty & the judge let her off , would have been a least 10 years for a guy with a similar record , she blinded a guy in 1 eye !! First, attacking someone without good reason is assault and battery, aka, a crime. I doubt anyone has a burning desire to repeal that.
For second, women don't deserve any special respect for having vaginas. Respect is *earned.* It's not some automatic thing.

I see where your coming from, and you're right, but I do feel like hitting a girl is worse. I mean, when my boyfriend and I play fight, I can't hurt him no matter how hard I try. My punches are nothing to him, yet he could pin me down with minimal effort. He laughs at me, while I try to fight, that's how much he doesn't even have to try lmao. So if I were to attack my boyfriend, it wouldn't really be that big of a deal because he could stop me in a second. If my boyfriend were to hit me though... That would be different. I can say without a doubt in my mind that he could probably kill me in under a minute (if he was a psycho, thank god he isn't). Do you see what I'm saying though? Guys are generally a lot stronger than women, and can do a lot more damage. Wow, no, that's not what I said at all. No one should hit anyone ever! I'm just saying that if I punched my boyfriend the hardest that I could, he wouldn't even bruise, but if he hit me the hardest that he could, he could definitely shatter the bones in my face. There's a difference in strength here, and I just wanted to point that out. I'm not excusing abusive women, and I'm not denying that there are women like that out there, but the severity of the beatings differ immensely.

Oh my god lol. For the third time, anyone hitting anyone is wrong. However, I do think it's worse for someone who is significantly stronger than another person to hit that person, regardless of gender, even if it's a strong man and a weak man. My argument isn't ridiculous, it's common sense. I've seen amazing fighters refuse a smaller man who wanted to fight him, because he knew it wouldn't be a fair fight and that he could cause some serious damage. Somehow you can't make that connection.
Well that's where you're wrong, because fighting and the ability to inflict damage has very little to do with physical strength or muscle mass. It's all about technique and a small man or woman could very easily KO a much larger man or woman. So it's completely ignorant to suggest someone who is physically large should not hit a smaller person. Also if we go by your logic, then at what point does it become acceptable to hit somebody? Do they have to weigh the exact same as you? Can there only be a difference of 5-10 lbs? These are the type of things you clearly haven't even taken into account. I believe people in general should not hit other people except for when it's actually necessary, but gender or body size/weight should have absolutely nothing to do with it.

I believe the only time it's acceptable to be violent to others is to protect yourself or someone who can't defend themselves. Of course that doesn't mean anyone is justified in hitting someone simply because it is self defense. You have to evaluate the level of threat they pose compared to your level of threat (how much harm can you do).
If a woman is attacking another woman of similar stature and fighting ability the defender may have to use punches, kicks, or even a blunt weapon to try to keep the attacker from causing serious harm. However, if the woman is attacking a 6'4" 250lb muscular man he should not be using the same amount of violence as the woman defender because he already has a greater threat level due to his size, weight, and strength. A mere shove may be enough to prevent the female attacker.
Picture yet another situation of a highly trained female martial artist assaulting an average male. The average man has a slightly higher threat level than the average woman because in general men are a bit taller, heavier, and more muscular. In this case though, the trained woman is a far greater threat and the man would be justified using as much force as necessary to defend himself.
That's just my view on it.

Another clue is in what kinds of leeway films have in violence vs men or women. If 1000 men are killed or tortured, there is little controversy. Yet simply slapping a woman on camera is already pushing the boundaries. And until folks like Tarantino and George R. R. And the big issue is in the under-reporting of domestic violence against men. Supposedly domestic violence is nearly 50/50 between male or female victims. Yet if you look at how the public reacts, it comes out roughly to this:
"If a man his a woman, it's because he's a violent asshole."
"If a woman his a man, he was probably an asshole and deserved it."
This isn't something that affects men in a vacuum, either. When we brush off violence against men while simultaneously treating women as damsels-in-distress, it teaches men that violence is a relatively normal thing. We teach our daughters to avoid violent people and they never deserve to be beaten up, which is great and makes sense. We teach boys to defend themselves (also good), but on the basis that they will INEVITABLY get beaten up. And in some cases, we teach them to attack others before they attack you.
If you normalize violence against men, it shouldn't be shocking when men become violent. Most violence overall is Male-Male.
This is coming from a guy who identifies as pro-feminist, too. But to tackle violence, we must start at the source. We often dismiss violence by men as only testosterone (and therefore intrinsic to men) or as exercising privilege over women. But people don't beat people when everything is hunky-dory.

I'm not saying there aren't abusers out there- of course there are. I watched my best friend go through hell in an abusive relationship before she finally pulled free. And no, she didn't attack him or smack him first, he simply turned whatever negative feelings he had into anger and used his fists to express it- on her, on animals, in fights with other men...
But that being said, most men DON'T hit women that way. The majority of men won't hit a woman 90% of the time even if she hits him first. Most know that, generally speaking, they're going to do more damage than the woman hitting them is. Some men do snap and hit back eventually, and I'd say it's not then all on the man. I believe if you hit a person in anger, you can expect to get the same back. Of course, if she hits you once and you proceed to beat on her for an hour, I don't see it as justified.
Obviously, violence isn't really the answer to any argument and hitting someone in anger is the ultimate disrespect in my opinion, regardless of their gender.

Hitting anyone is not a positive behavior. Just because you don't like what someone said doesn't give you the right to cause physical pain to them. This goes for both genders. At the same time people have to understand that this is 2015, not 1805. There are some crazy people out there and there are people who will resort to hitting, punching, choking, and even attacking with a weapon. People out there don't give a fuck anymore if you are a woman or a man, they will hit you. We have to stop doing this thing where we assume everyone is the same and that they have all been raised with morals to not hit another person, man or woman. Regarding the assertion that men can take a hit while women cannot. I work with a man who I'd guess is about 5'5" with a slight build, I doubt he weighs more than 120 pounds. I also work with a woman who is about 5'10" and likely weighs over 200 pounds. If they were to get in a fistfight, it's unquestionable that she could beat him senseless and he'd be unable to defend himself if he tried. Women can and do get violent, and they do so more often than they did in the past. These two aren't a couple, but if you're observant you'll notice that it's not uncommon for smaller than average men to partner with larger than average women.
I'm not advocating for violence, but it's sexist on multiple levels to suggest that women are always defenseless against men and that men are never defenseless against women.

Most of the men who still believe that a "guy should never hit a girl" are usually the types who can't ever think for themselves and jump on society's bandwagon on certain moral beliefs. Ironically, I know plenty of women who have little to no respect for these type of men because why should they respect these guys if they can't even respect themselves.
Now I'm not advocating any violence towards anyone, regardless of gender but who ever instigates the violence, that other person has every right to defend him/herself. If an emasculated white knight decides to jump in during my self-defense to attack me, he's gonna realize that he's making the biggest mistake and end up having his balls splattered on a curb with chunks of his blood on my shoes.
Although my answer here sounds ironic when I said I'm not trying to advocate violence when I just expressed violence at the end of my answer but I've had a long history of very bad temper and violence (from getting picked on a lot at school for being different), which often got me in trouble (both in school and with the law) since my childhood. I try my best to improve myself and tell others not to end up like me, even though it sounds kind of hypocritical of me to say.

by the way, I was raised just like these boys from the time I was in diapers and so far I have never encountered crazy, zealot types. I have no idea where are some guys bumping into one-eyed monster women because they are not the majority. I would like to think I would restrain the average woman from hitting me. I've practice enough with my male friend and one of them is a martial artista who taught me lots of techniques for years so that should be good.

Unfortunately when a man says it is equally as wrong to attack a man as it is a woman, it is easy to shame him into silence by acting like he isn't "a real man". As a result men commonly get shamed for stepping out of our gender roles. This reinforces gender roles for men, instead of allowing us to break free of them.
Insecure men are the only ones that need to prove they are real men, and these insecure men are so desperate to prove they are real men, that they are generally the fastest to criticize people that think that it is equally as bad to hit a man as a woman. In their mind this makes them more manly by adopting a gender role, that basically says they are worth less than a woman. I understand where you come from but I think the reason why a lot of men bring up violent retaliations towards women when it comes to gender equality is because of how a lot of them are sick and tired of women hardly ever being held accountable for their own actions in those case scenarios and often receive much lesser consequences than men for the same violent things they've committed. Of course, I see few women who condone domestic violence committed by women against men, but even so, there's no benefit to making it specifically about men.
Some men can't take a hit. Some women can. The differences are not absolutely inherent to the sexes.
There are still a lot of movies that show women slapping men. That's something that people need to draw attention to, if they are going to be as egalitarian as they claim. There should not be any situation in which it is acceptable for a woman to slap a bad but yet is not, in the exact same context, acceptable to slap a woman.
More importantly, though, violence in general should not be used as a solution to a problem except where it is clearly necessary.
