Funny. You know that eventually we grow to that point in life where we don't really care much, right? So, don't waste it.

You can probably see my age on the post. Now, we did not have all this information overload when I was young. When I first started out as an adult, telex machines were the norm for international communications, computers ran from the command line, and mobile phones (if you could afford one) were the size of a breeze block. As I've posted on another question. The one thing that bothers me is when a situation like what I'm about to post down below pops up. It's bad when it's someone that claims to be a really good friend, but even more so when it's a girl that claims that she likes me.

Them: Hey, it's been a long time since we've last hung out.. We should hang out sometime.
Me: Yeah, definitely. When are you free?
Them: I'm only free on Saturdays and Sundays, and I'm not really a fan of planning things way ahead of time. At most a day in advance.
Me: Alright, well, I work this Saturday and Sunday, so I'll let you know what my schedule is like for next week.
Them: Alright, sounds good!
Me (a week later): Alright, well I am off Saturday, so we'll see how things are when it comes around.

Me (on Friday): Hey, so, are you free to hang out tomorrow?
Them: Reads message but doesn't reply on Friday .. Saturday nothing.. Sunday, nothing.. Monday: Hey, how's it going?

Honestly don't ask when she is free, set a date. She is reaching out because she wants to see you. Be assertive and confident, take control of the situation. Don't look for her approval by asking when she is free or what day works. If she can't see you on the day you tell her, ask her when she is free to meet up next and set it for an agreed day, don't contact her any sooner than at least 1 day before the day of the date. Show her you have a life outside of her and your time is too valuable to play cat and mouse games. Also if she is genuinely interested in you she will agree to plans for any day. No one is that busy. Women who like you will help you.

That conversation I had right there was with someone that's a friend.. not a girl I'm trying to get with. The point being is it's really annoying when someone says they're free on a specific date but when that date comes around, all of a sudden they don't respond. In other words, if they didn't want to hang out, then they should just say that they don't want to hang out. I hate people who aren't straight forward with shit. If a girl that I'm interested does that to me. I'm done with her.

Some of these are silly, but three is the one that I can most relate to. I always have my phone on me and see messages as soon as they come through (Facebook Messenger app sucks, but at least that much of it works).

She's got a LOT on her plate with school, I can appreciate that, but I wonder sometimes if she's actually too busy to talk or if she's losing interest. Then we'll eventually get to talking again and I'll feel like an ass for questioning it in the first place, but then it'll be several days that go by again with no word and the doubts start creeping up once more. I tend to second-guess myself like that.

Long distance sucks. I'll leave it at that.

Sounds like loss of interest, stop contact with her, let her come to you at her own pace. Have control, be patient, be confident, don't question why she's not talking, who cares you're not married. Don't worry about when she will message you, if she is genuinely interested she will make time to talk with you, women love talking. Ask yourself this question, how often do you see out in public that just about every woman is on a phone? You're looking into it way too much. When she reaches out to you set a date, the phone is for business not chit chatting. Dates are for chit chatting and getting to know eachother. Be her lover not her gay male friend or emotional tampon.

I text to do stuff or up until I meet a girl in person off a dating site, but if I'm gonna have a conversation, I prefer to have it in person.

That being said, recently I talked to a girl off OkCupid last week who gave me her number in her very first reply to me and was coming on really strong, would send me like 5 texts at a time, already ask to meet up. The next day i send her a casual text and then she gives like one-two word respones, ignored my last text. Text her again 2 days later and get no response, yet were still friends on Facebook. I don't get people like that. I used to blame myself entirely for it and think what's wrong with me but it's not worth stressing over.

Lol texting isn't a legit way to communicate... never has been... it's just a cowardly way because people can talk to you and hang out when it's convenient for them... so ditch the technology and actually make a move to hang out more in person and less on your phone or over FB, the only way to go because if you just keep having conversations over FB or texting without meeting them but think you already know them... well... they are gonna get weirded out lol.

People have lives to lead, and some people aren't married to their phones or go into an anxiety attack if their phone isn't in their hand at all times. I think people take texting too seriously a lot of the time. I've not replied to people in over a week, and not because I was messing with them, I just honestly forgot! I don't check my phone or email everyday :p My parents are the same way, so I think I learned it from them, lol.
