Can a kiss mean nothing at all?

Long stories short, I met this new guy friend when I was backpacking. We live in the same hostel and started chatting up in the common area of the hostel. Out of my three nights stay there, we have both stayed up late just chatting with each other (say til 4am or 5am). On the final night of the trip, we were again sitting and chilling, playing card games, both of us shared a little beer and I really do not understand why he kissed me while walking me back to my room. Now, I'd understand if it's a French kiss (that is, to imply "I want sex from you"), but all he did was a 20-second lip kiss and then he said, "I'll see you in the morning".

A week later he visited where I live and being a local, I took him and his friend out to the city on a Friday night after work. His friend left at about 2am, and both of us headed for supper and continued talking to 4am, before he then kissed me on the cheek and then on the lips (this time a short one).

I am just curious, though, I'd imagine under these circumstances most guys would just head for sex (given the chances that we may not see each other ever again in our lives). Could the kiss mean nothing at all?

So, we've kept in touch. About 3 weeks later he had a 20-hour transit flight in my city, and I offered to let him stay over at mine. We went out for dinner, none of us had any alcohol and we were completely sober.

We were just sitting and talking about everything and nothing after shower and then we started kissing a lot. We ended up having sex.

This is my first one night stand in my 24 years of life.
Can a kiss mean nothing at all?
