Girls: mature guy vs funny guy?

Okay this may sound like a dumb question, but assume you have two guys with you. One of them is almost always joking and say he's quite funny and sometimes he says an actually pretty hilarious joke. The other guy is a bit more serious; he talks about all kinds of stuff and is intelligent, cracks a few jokes here and there but they aren't as funny as the other's.
Which one would you chose?

You see I'm 18 and I know a little something about most subjects and I also have a great interest in people so I can carry a nice and serious conversation easily and crack a few jokes here and there. But most of the time I have this feeling that I HAVE to be funny to get friends/girls to like me.

Sometimes (if I am on a nice mood and relaxed like I am most of the time) it goes along pretty well but other times (due to some factors that I can't figure out but usually because all I want is to seem funny) I just look like a retarded clown and I almost get slapped (wow like just 3 hours ago I had this girl raising her hand at me and locking my wrist. Somehow survived by not breaking eye contact for a full minute and then asking 'Can you get your hand off my wrist now?' but you see its stuff like this and I know how desperate this may be to read).

But assume I'm on my good days so I'm making lots of jokes and most of them are funny. Would you chose that over a more serious/mature guy?

Oh by the way I feel the need to say that all I did to that girl was just being stupid. I didn't like hit or hurt her physically/psychologically.

I'd probably choose the mature guy over the funny guy. Usually when a guy keeps joking about literally everything, he's using his sense of humor as a defense mechanism for whatever reason. Which is bad in my book.
I'd rather be with a mature guy because I'd like to be able to have deep conversations with him sometimes. I would get tired of constantly hearing his jokes, even if they're funny. I value diversity. If the mature guy is able to make a few jokes here and there, that's good enough for me. I do appreciate it when someone tries their best to make me laugh (and they succeed), but still I value maturity a bit more than humor.
Also, you should refrain from using the word "retarded" like that, considering that it's pretty offensive.

Be yourself. If you're intelligent and don't like stupid jokes then don't do stupid jokes, they're not gonna be funny at all. I like cute, kind and intelligent guys. I actually hate those clowns who just keep saying stupid things. All they can do is make people laugh with their immaturity ( i'm talking about those guys who are doing stupid jokes all the time, sometimes you can be funny if you really feel like saying a good joke) However, it depends, girls have different opinions and you should hang out with girls who like you for who you are, not for who they want you to be.

It's always a balance. On the whole, I'd prefer the guy you're describing yourself to be over the "funny guy". Flirting with "funny guys" is probably more fun, but when a relationship is concerned, I prefer someone with whom I can have a serious or intriguing conversation. But if a conversation lacks any wit, I won't be engaged and I'll lose interest. But some girls are more mature than others. On the whole, you don't have to be funny - and it probably detracts from your personality when you try to be funny because you're not being yourself.

Ahh this is really hard. Especially since I've liked guys who for both these categories. Hmm... I don't know cus a mature guy we could really have awesome deep convos and get to know each other real well but he might get kinda borin or get creeped out if I do something weird cus I'm a weird one lol. But funny guys are well funny lmao their super entertaining and there's never a full moment and they can always make me smile. Ugh... The best if both worlds would be to date a ridiculously funny guy who can be really mature when it's just is too. But it I really really reeallyy had to pick. *drum rolls* id go with the mature guy. Because I'm hilarious so I can be funny enough for the both of us. And Mature guys are more understanding and stuff. A funny guys would just crack a joke.

Mature, hands down. I don't want to date someone childish. I wasn't to date someone like-minded and more serious than the rest. In fact, if you are a prankster/jokester we won't be a thing. Sure, a good joke now and then is okay but constantly pulling joke after joke after joke gets a little old and annoying.

Mature guy. I am sure at least he's making some jokes. And if I want some humpur I could just watch a movie, talk with my dad or friends, or simply tell jokes or stories myself lol. I know guys way over the "funny" category, almost to the point it becomes silly. So mature guy. I like having someone to talk with, not just goof all the time. Everyone can be funny just by telling childhood stories or school stories or simple jokes, so can he.
It's all about balance.

My male family is humorous. So naturally if I am on the balance of funny/sarcastic to serious. It comes down to the personality types.
I would rather go for some-one serious but sensitive. I can't have a guy who acts like a child or an old person, maturity is recommended.

Maturity is what matters at the end of the day for me. I'm 16, and it's not always about jokes. Because constantly joking creates a wall around you and others will not take you seriously.

he knows how to crack a joke here and there while being serious sometimes
funny guys tend to look immature and sometimes the girl gets frustrated.

The key is to find a balance between the two that works for you.

I would choose the mature guy. I can watch a comedy for humor but it is not everyday you meet a guy who is intellectual and mature.
