Are girls less funny than guys?

First of all, don't get triggered by the question and immediately prove its truth.
We hear every day that women like funny guys or who will make them laugh but what about funny women? Surely men like laughing too.
But on average, what I have seen women are less funny or have less sense of humor than men. They tend to take offense and act defensively in most situations where you can just laugh it off. It can be mostly seen dealing with sarcasm or dark humor.
There are few female comedians out there and if you have seen them, you will notice that they are kinda boring. Sometimes they can be funny but it's mostly the same jokes and everything is about either sex or relationships or their ex-partners. I haven't still seen a single show of a female comedian without sex or relationship jokes, if you know any point out, please.
There are few comedic actresses but movies are very different from stand-up comedy. Movies are highly scripted and repetition of takes can make acts more perfect. Doing it for a live audience or on a date or talking to someone can be tougher.

You know why girls aren't funny? Because comedy usually requires four things:

1) The willingness to make an ass of yourself in public.
2) Bravery, especially when you suck or flop.
3) Relatability to others; not just women, but men too.
4) Hardship and the ability to use comedy to laugh at yourself and stressful situations in life.

Women generally suck at all four of these things, especially the first one.
So not only are women generally not funny, but wealthy men and men with easy lives usually aren't funny, either.

A few women in stand-up CAN be funny, but 99.9% of the time, they will be lesbians and/or butch and ugly. Besides maybe Joan Rivers, name me ONE funny woman in comedy over the decades. ... And if anyone disagrees with this, they're going to be a woman trying to one-up men by claiming unfunny women are "funny." Like Mindy Kaling, Kate McKinnon, or Tiffany Hadish or some lame sh*t.

(Western) Women live life on Easy Mode. Comedy usually comes from hardship. You don't get to have both, ladies. And easy life AND the ability to be funny. Nor do you get to whine, nag, or complain about "sexism" in order to get people to fake-laugh at your terrible period jokes.

Women are more emotional, I believe. And I think sometimes those can be positive emotions and personality traits, like joy, easy-goingness, or even having a sense of humor. But being funny usually takes effort and the things I listed above.

Funny girls are not less funny than funny guys.

But just in my experience, there have just been more funny guys. I don't say this out of pride really. More out of disappointment, because I LOVE a girl with a good sense of humor.

Not sure if it's just that humor is a normal part of guys' lives, or if the whole "peacocking" argument is true, if it's cultural, or what. But girls have guys beat on "cute" so there's that.

Some of funniest girls I know have a "Toph-style" humor. Sort of a tough-girl, edgy, has-nicknames-for-everyone style humor. One girl I know was in the Marines. She didn't even have to be making a joke, just how she worded things.

Or I hate to bring race into this, but you ever have an outspoken black woman tell you a story? Most of the time for me, it's been an absolute masterpiece. That's what makes me lean more on the cultural side.

Or my sister tends to dominate at things like Cards Against Humanity and Jackbox Games. So perhaps its about a willingness to just hop right over the line. Most of the time, we're hearing a few noisy girls protesting comedians for their line-crossing, or demanding that we find Ghostbusters funny when it wasn't, and the fact that it was women had nothing to do with it. Like goddamn at least cast someone like Awkwafina or Tina Fey as consultants.

I think it’s down to the individual, and also the fact that everyone has a different sense of humour. Almost all of my girl friends are really funny, and a lot of girls that I know in person are too (funny in the opinion of both men and women). A lot of guys I know are funny too, like my boyfriend he’s really funny. But what I HAVE noticed is a lot of men’s jokes (not the men I’m close to) are kind of sexist/misogynistic or really dark like rape jokes. Most girls don’t find that funny at all as a lot of us have experienced sexism or sexual harassment at least and it’s kind of traumatic, and then the men making those jokes think we are easily offended and stuck up 🤷🏼‍♀️ Also, I feel like a lot of funny women are sort of ‘attacked’ - we are expected to be quiet, polite, proper etc. and not silly or funny, so if someone is then some men tend to label them as masculine or unattractive because they don’t fit the idea they have of what a woman should be. Not always men can use a good laugh too. I generally don't get serious if I don't have to. In school, college, university I pulled out mass pranks. I made laughing gas and at chemistry lab when the teacher was not around. It made everyone laugh. I know it's not the conventional way but people were happy.

They have to tell different kinds of jokes, and aim them a bit differently. They also have to mind their age more, as the jokes they can get away with vary by age more. So it's harder for women, but not impossible.

A younger college comedian can get away with a lot of raunchy comedy. But by her 30s, family life is a better aim. By middle age, money jokes work better. By old age, nostalgia and current trends are safer milks.

Men can tell the same types of jokes until they start looking like Clint Eastwood. Then, they get to mix it up.

Bill Murray, for example, played almost the same likeable loser in every movie for decades, and got away with it. But come Ghostbusters 2016, he clearly didn't want to be there. Yet, he was cast against talentless ladies that could neither act nor tell a decent joke to save their skins, and was asked to act like they were his superiors. Because wokism.

Just one of many reasons that film felt disingenuous, and flopped.

One of the best female comedians I can vaguely remember was at a show in the Williams Auditorium at Ferris. She was a bit raunchy, but on-point. Especially when she made fun of her own one night stand history. I could see that members of the audience, mid-laughter, were quite uncomfortable, thinking: "Been there, done that. In no big hurry to try that stunt again!"

And then there are "comedians" like Kathy Griffin and Krystal Moore. Who aren't really funny at all, just... sad. And who tried to survive for four years by just repeatedly yelling "Orange Man Bad!" It got old fast.

*Maybe*, in social situations they can crack jokes and be funny and keep up. I'm not sure that's true, but maybe. But from what I can tell they definitely can't keep up in comedy. I've been watching a bunch of Bill Burr bits about women and so many people say it rings true and has a good time with it. So I've been looking for women who can poke fun at men in the same insightful and funny way. It's not really there. I'm sitting here feeling left out wondering if there's anything weird and funny about men to talk about. I go to a YouTube channel all about female comics and 19 out of the most recent 25 videos is directly about sex. And if it's not about sex it's still often about dating or some shit like that. They've got nothing interesting to say.

Ultimately my conclusion is they're not ass good at comedy, but they are "funny" if you get my meaning. They're these weird people full of contradictions and absurdity, and society has all these special rules about protecting them and all that stuff. They're "funny" in the sense that they're a gold mine for jokes, but it's far less common to find women who can come up with them and deliver them.

I wish more girls were funny but it’s true, majority of them really aren’t. I have a good amount of female friends and been in a few female only friend groups in my life and to be quite honest, their sense of humor was rather dumb/random and just overall not…funny. Its so awkward when everyone else is laughing at something either so dumb, or based on a ex/relationship for the 200th time and you’re just like “😐”. Like, I’m a girl too so yeah the jokes about exes and relationships are funny and relatable, but to an extent. When it’s your whole personality tho, it’s kinda boring…

Girls can be more funnier in my opinion. When I’m with my best friends it’s nothing but comedy skits one after another, we are comfortable and get goofy. If she’s not funny it’s probably on purpose, or the girl just might lack actual humor. You also have to keep in mind a lot of male jokes especially in our generation are making fun of women (on social media it’s always a guy dressing up using mannerisms for laughs) or joking about relationship issues. Social Media is relevant now, there’s not many going to stand up comedy and if you want to talk about it a lot of comedy like Kat Williams and Kevin Hart are what I said, they are funny but target the same topics everytime. And movies like Scary Movie, White Chicks, Madea are the same. Women don’t have the funny type of personalities because they are more sensitive to a lot more subjects. A comedian usually has to be able to make fun of themselves and things they might have a bias towards without taking it personally. For example, there was a guy that made pedo jokes. That just wouldn’t work with a woman, and I doubt they would ever step over that line. Even if they did, it would just come off as forced. Men and women can have differing opinions on what’s funny and what’s not. For example myself and most guys find the opening sequence of Full Metal Jacket hilarious. We laugh at measured brutality that’s mixed in with levity. Most women don’t find that as comedic.

But sexist or not men are generally funnier. We can say things that crack up both men and women. However female comedians have a harder time understanding what makes men click. They usually joke about tampons and other female centric issues.

Luckily I don't see it in the circles I come in myself, here women are as often as funny and laid back as the men.
But I guess it makes sense that men are more funny on average because they have a higher gain than when women are funny. Especially getting sex/attention from girls is a high driver for men.

The comedian world is still so largely dominated by men that women are very biased to be viewed in a certain way. It will always be pointed out that it is a women, that is the first characteristic trait for her, not what type of comedy she is doing. In entertainment women are also judged more on their looks, so some funny women might be excluded because of this.

Sometimes on a live show, they try to make the situation funny by shaming the audience, whether it's their body or relationships. It's like laughing at others' misery. Humor is a very subjective thing. South Park, Family Guy, etc. are extremely popular and many people find them hilarious, but I find them unbearably stupid and unfunny, for example. Yeah majority of women this is true. It's the same thing every encounter I have. I'm saying all the jokes, being silly making her laugh while all she does is go with it. A lot of times her jokes aren't funny or she laughs at something only she thinks is funny. Then I have to explain to her why it wasn't funny. Some women all they can do is use rude insults thinking that way of teasing is somehow funny, but it isn't. It's just insults and nothing clever.

Do I know exactly why? Well, I suspect it’s something to do with biology, specifically evolutionary biology, that makes seeing women as funny as near difficult to possible for men.

Yes, or at least we're perceived that way because we're supposed to be quiet and pretty instead of outgoing and goofy. I have actually a cousin sister who could keep comedians jobless. She is the funniest person I ever knew. But yeah it's true that more boys are funnier than girls.
