What makes a woman an "easy" target for rape?

My psychologist says that certain women are and I am one of them. Why is that and how can I change that?

Wow I have never heard that before. Any woman can be a target of rape. And the ones that usually do get raped, are the ones we thought never would. I agree with Anonymous and just make sure you never go anywhere alone late at night. Carry around pepper spray with you. Take self defense classes. Learn how to defend yourself should you ever find yourself in that situation. Don't let men you don't trust or know get you a drink\ (even if you know them, if you think their shady don't let them buy you a drink). Don't even leave your drink sitting out. When I would go to a bar, I would never leave my drink by itself or with people I didn't trust. I always drank it, then went and danced or mingled or to the bathroom. And when I left anywhere after dark, I had someone with me, especially when my husband was deployed.

Well I know I am an easy target to be raped considering I have been twice I can't speak for why you are an easy target but I am since I'm short under weight and look weak there are lots of reasons you can look like an easy target that doesn't mean you are just don't make the mistakes I did always have a cell or friend on you and don't assume all guys are what they say they are some people say if you get raped its because your stupid but that is far from true you can be extreamly intelligent it does you no good you still freak out and loos track of what your supposed to do I'm sure your not an easy target so don't worry about why your quote an easy target

You should ask your psychologist, but I really don't think it was appropriate to say such a thing to you. What you received was some rather unnerving input from someone who's supposed to make you feel comfortable and offer you help; I would think your psychologist did the opposite of what he/she was supposed to do with that bit.

Rape is a horrible thing. Any man who rapes a woman should be put to death. I dated a girl for many years that was "fearless". She was small, skinny, and attractive. Had no problem walking down a dark street at night by herself. Would put herself in precarious situations and basically just wouldn't think. Dumb girls have this happen to them more than smarter girls. Not saying you are dumb, just saying use your head. Always go with a friend somewhere new, or be on the phone with someone if you're walking in the dark at night. Always keep your car doors locked when driving. Don't be OCD about it, but make sure you prevent a situation from happening.

what?! That's an odd thing for a psychologist to say, Especially when it's not the woman's fault. It's the guy that gets the effed up notion to do the raping. But let's consider what makes someone vulnerable:

-Not being aware of their surroundings

-Projecting a feeling of vulnerability or defenselessness

-Walking in unmonitored areas makes criminal acts easier.

I'd question what traits he claims you possess because that's an awfully poisoning thing to say to a person you're meant to be counseling on matters of mental health.

as for your question what makes a woman an easy target for rape then I would have to say every woman as if rapist has is eye on you he will find a way which I know is horrible thing to say.

you should be more aware of your surrounding. always go out with a group of friends.

if there is a creepy guy, or someone is following you around a party or something, go find some of your friends. never put down your drink at a party, or a bar.

Get another psychologist: he 's shifting the blame from the rapist to you. He might l have rape ideas himself.
