Would a guy pay for your meal if he wasn't interested in pursing something with you?

So I was out with a group of friends to eat and I had never been to this particular place before and everyone knew it. This guy I like was near me in line and started showing off something I made for him, for Christmas, it was in his wallet. We got to the counter and he had me go first. I was about to pay for my meal when he tells me he will pay for it, in honor of it being my first time eating at this place. Do you think he is trying to show interest in me (he is a self professed shy guy), or was he just being a nice guy?

Sounds like he was just being nice, but a man will pay for a woman's meal even if he didn't want a relationship. He may just want sex here and there or brownie points so he can get sex at some point.

It's possible but not likely. Plus if he kept the thing you made for him in his wallet and was showing it off to people, that definitely makes it seem like he's interested.

it depends on the guy. sometimes I pay for my friend girls because she doesn't have much money in the bank.

i wouldn´t do that for a "friend" or acquaintances usually... but some guys might be like that.

I love paying for a woman's dates and buying her gifts, even though I know she's never going to let me have sex with her. That's honestly very exciting for me, and it's even better when she's seeing a guy she's having sex with regularly, so I can pay for her dates with him.
