+1 yI absolutely love cooking myself (I'm quite a foodie) and I think anyone who thinks that is just plain stupid. Defining your manliness with something like that is simply childish and ridiculous. Cooking is a great hobby and personally, I love it because it helps me to relieve stress (and also because I enjoy cooking for my girlfriend who is not so good at it :-)).
In fact, I very much pity men who can't cook decently. My best friend's dad is this typical patriarchic, old-fashioned man who always comes home from work and expects dinner to be ready on the table for him. When my best friend's parents divorced and his dad moved out and into his own place, this obviously became a huge problem for him. He was so utterly ignorant about cooking he didn't even manage to make a sunny-side egg for himself. Sometimes I wonder how this is even possible... how men like this can possibly exist. I mean... not being able to cook an egg? That's like being too damn stupid to turn on the TV or flush the toilet. You don't even need skills for this, you just crush an egg and that's it. But yeah... it was too much for my friend's dad. So instead of cooking, he ended up eating frozen pizzas for about 6 months straight. Or he would go out and eat in restaurants, which is very expensive in my country. He was extremely lucky that he found a new woman half a year after his divorce who happened to be his type (one that cooks for him and cleans after him). My best friend sometimes jokingly says that his dad would have starved to death if he had been forced to live without a woman for another 6 months. I find this completely insane. It's not hot or manly if a guy can't cook, it's pathetic. I'm not saying every guy has to be a chef with 3 michelin stars but you should be able to feed yourself in a healthy and balanced way. Being 50 years old and having NEVER learned how to fry an egg or cook some pasta in half a century's time is simply lame and, I say it again, pathetic.03 Reply- +1 y
That's true but we're talking advanced cooking here. People like you and I might care about these things but many people don't. For a lot of men (particularly men who are 40+) it would already be a huge stunt to cook an egg without starting a fire or the egg being a heap of coal in the end and how that's possible, I really don't understand. I mean... cooking an egg and burning it a little bit or not cooking it long enough is one thing but not even knowing how to go about the task of trying to cook an egg is like... I don't think I can ever get my head around that. I've asked my friend why his dad is like this and he said "I don't know... he just always had women who cooked for me. First it was his mom... then he met my mom, they got married and she always cooked for him". I know there are guys out there like this but still... don't they ever look at how their mom/wife cooks something? And what I find particularly crazy: my friend's dad isn't stupid. He owns a company and is a very

wealthy man. He's very successful at his job as far as I know... just when it comes to cooking or doing laundry or even vacuuming, he's like a 2 year old...

+1 yUh, no! Marry me right now! ... Just kidding, but seriously it's a huuuuuuuuuuuuuugeeeeeeee turn on for me! I love a man who can cook! :) I love to cook as well, but it's tiring when you come home and someone expects you to have dinner on the table when you worked all day as well. It's nice to have someone to trade off with cooking.

+1 yActually, it's quite the opposite. Men who are secure enough in their manhood to do whatever strikes their fancy are pretty hot. Want to cook? Just do it. Feel like wearing that lilac colored button up shirt? Put it on. Wear it with confidence. A man who is confident, secure, and not worried what others think of him is very sexy.

+1 yAre you kidding? It would be awesome if a guy I liked could cook. I want to learn to cook, so then we could have a great time cooking together and trying new recipes and maybe get in the occasional food fight.

That's what I sometimes do with my girlfriend. We also enjoy baking cakes or cookies together on lazy, cold November weekends. It's an awesome way to spend quality time with your sweetheart. And it's actually quite funny... I have always been very good at cooking because I've started experimenting at an early age but my girlfriend knew absolutely nothing about cooking when we first met because she comes from a country where your mom desperately wants to take care of you until you get married. So in the beginning I would always cook nice meals for her and she would just try to grasp the basic concepts. But now I've taught her so much and she's also started enjoying it herself a lot and started reading and watching books and movies about it that she's actually become almost as good as me. And now we sometimes cook together and smartass each other how to prepare or cook or season something... it's a lot of fun :-)

+1 yThey can laugh all they want, but they're gonna be crying over their microwave dinner while you eat like a king! Cooking is kick ass and I wish I was better at it. I am good with spices, and can cook relatively simple stuff, but I'm no chef. Keep dong what you do man, and never let anyone tell you it's bad.
00 Replylol are you serious? I went to culinary school and any restaurant most of the cooking staff is male. It's a very dominated field. I love my moms and grandmas cooking because, i grew up on it. But I can say hands down guys are way better cooks than woman are.

20 ReplyOnly if you only cook brownies and cookies and stuff, other than that, nothing adds or subtracts from your manliness, except for cooking meat and grilling, that's a plus.

I think the fact your insecure about cooking because people "see" you as unmanly is unmanly and weak. You should get over that.
