LOL! A lot of butthurt comments. I'm not looking for a guy, neither have I generalized anyone. I've observed many posts by guys who separate themselves into these categories. "Smart guys" complaining they can't get dates, its probably because you are not physically attractive. "Hot guys" who can't sustain a relationship, probably because you don't have anything to base it on. Don't be mad at me for pointing out the obvious :)
Men and women both have the same issue: if they're very attractive, it makes it much easier for them to get what they want without having to do any real work for it - and so, no matter what their intellectual potential is, many often are mentally lazy, and don't work to develop their brains because: why bother? They're already getting the things they want, so why do any more work than necessary?
"Geeks" and "nerds" generally aren't blessed with beauty, and they know it, and they quickly figure out that trying to compete on that level is never going to be successful for them, so they focus on developing their brains instead. Unfortunately, many of them fail to develop their social skills along with their brains, so you end up with your Leonards (shy), Howards (creepy), Rajs (shy & fem), and Sheldons (socially phobic and perhaps slightly autistic).
Obviously, there are exceptions to these generalizations - there are definitely some smart, attractive guys, and there are definitely some physically inferior guys who are also dumb (or just wasted their mental potential).
As I said, there is a similar story with women, though the details are a little different.
Tbh most nerds aren't that smart. The real smart men make something of themselves and are successful, confident, muscular and all the rest of it. Better physique:more energy: more concentration: more brains.
And besides - science just found out that exercising activates a gene behavior that make you more intelligent. It's only in High School movies that we have dumb jocks and smart nerds.
Exactly. Most nerds are way too disorganised and lack the social or emotional intelligence to be truly smart. Most of them just have a few side hobbies that they pompously declare makes them smarter than everyone else. For the most part though they're just hurried away in their mum's basement playing WoW. Smart people have a range of healthy hobbies and interests - join societies - and look after themselves physically as well as mentally.
I disagree with all of this. Sure, you get wow nerds, but I know many nerds from schools who are becoming millionaires and the jocks from my school are like local mechanics etc. even my brother, he was a semi professional soccer player, he is struggling now in business. The only thing that is detrimental to a talented nerd are their people skills. A guy who knows nothing about something, but with balls to do it anyway, makes it more in life than the talented nerd who is to scared to. I believe everyone can be super talented or intelligent if you just stick to what you good at.
@Scrambledagain I know, I'm just looking at things from a different perspective since an often repeated stereotype is that 'nerds are this', 'muscleheads are that'. I'm saying it's probably better all round to just be a cool, sociable person with brains AND brawn.
Ikr! I hate to generalize but unfortunately that's how it goes.. Most of the time.😉 My crush is very smart. We both want to go into the medical field and we both take Ap classes. However his goodness doesn't stop there. He's the sexiest thing I've ever laid my eyes on. He has juicy biceps and he's built verryy nicely. We flirt a lot and he held my hand. So don't give up girl. I was so disgusted by the current state of affairs around me that I thought I wouldn't date until college. But I started hanging around people with similar aspirations until this heavenly motha trucka #MirandaSings Don't give up
I feel like that once we all progress past the high school phase of our lives, it's easier to find attractive people who aren't also total dingbats. I have never had a problem in that regard. Nor have I ever had a problem finding someone tall enough (ie over 5'9" which is my height).
There's one less nerd with muscles, he's with me :-*

Most people aren't especially strong or muscular or funny. So if there's only a 10% chance of being unusually smart, and a 10% chance of being (in high school) athletic, then only 1% would be both.
Those odds are maybe a little conservative, but there's actually something that makes it even less likely, which is that being fit and muscular is actually quite a big time investment, even assuming you have the genes for it. Bluntly, a woman who has decent facial features who eats reasonably well and is smart is going to be considered 'beauty and brains'. You may be looking for guys who have generally good facial features and are smart and have good atheletic genes and have time to socialize with friends, and study, and also spend hours a week lifting weights on top of hours a week focused on whatever sport they compete in. Something's gotta give. My kids are just under high school age, but my eldest is in competitive sport, and there are some guys in there who are smart and 'jocks'. They also have no social life, because there's not enough time for all three.
I think you probably tend to find more guys who are 'smart and fit' when you're older, as a significant minority of guys who had brains, weren't jocks, join gyms and get in reasonably good shape. High school, unfortunately, tends to push people NOT to be well rounded. If you're not that smart, and study a lot, you probably feel ridiculed. If you're not athletic, there aren't good opportunities to get stronger and fitter, more likely you drop out of gym and don't participate in any sports. Once out in the real world, almost all of us will work with our brains, and physical activity becomes something that we most often to individually, not as a team, at our own level.
Both modes, if they are cultivated rather than integrated, are just 2 different ways are ego tries to make itself speciaL. Iin one case, some guys think that the single think that they base their self-=esteem on is the size of their biceps. In another, its the size of their vocabulary. People are born - and usually mature into - an integrated version of both. For the emotional twilight zone that is called High School, everyone except a rare few are afflicted with mass stupidity that demands their interests be confined to only a specific area and to be interested in something the pack leader who has generally invested all their self-esteem in what s/he bel;levees to be important is worthy of disdain. Sorry, that sounded like a very answer. I am also an accomplished athlete.
That's quite an assumption you're making there! I think there a lot of guys who are smart and hot. You can't just judge someone on their appearance and say he's hot therefore he must be stupid, or even he's a nerd so therefore he must be clever.
Having said that, I do think it's hard for guys to be both. Most real "nerds" were "nerds" at school, and most nerds at school got picked on to some extent (in my experience). And most often the guys and girls who picked on the nerds were "jocks", or hot, cool and pretty people. So that inevitably is going to make the nerds more attracted to the library, lets say, than to the gym and / or the designer labels.

Now my curiosity is up, if you're being picked on, why wouldn't that steer you to the gym or somewhere to learn how to defend yourself?
Why would being picked on make you not want to wear designer labels? What does designer labels have to do with anything?
Who said they don't exist? They do, a lot. You just don't find them.
Regardless of whether you find me hot or not (i know i'm hot to some girls), i'm a pretty smart guy (no show off). So to some women I'm hot and smart at the same time :)
I guess this could work for women as well! I am a fit guy that likes to be active and I think I am reasonably smart as I have to retain a lot of things in my career and I am up on current events, etc., so I keep my brain active also!
However, I found it difficult to find a woman that had a similar combination of keeping in shape and being common sense smart, someone who is attractive and also a pleasure to talk to.
I'm smart and hot XD lol, this question is just funny. Its like the old high school generalization. Plenty of guys that are smart and attractive. Sorry we don't have any sayings, probably do but I don't feel like searching.
Well others call me I'm smart, say body is ripped/hot, but my face nobody really says is hot, nor ugly, so that's something that's inbetween I guess, but I'm only 15 and Dont look mature, I still have a young teen face
probably women don't value intelligence as much as big muscles so guys try to hide there one quality over other... obviously if you're a jock you'll be into sports and other stuff and would read very less on the other hand nerds will be a lot into reading and honing their brains and will have no interest in sports... Though I've met guys who are good in both

Its bullshit. Girls aren't really interested in intelligent men statistically speaking. The higher your IQ is the less chance you have of getting laid if you're a dude, and the less sex you'll have throughout your life. Best odds for getting laid is an IQ of like 105 or something. Slightly above average.

Because there is no genetic link between smart and handsome, just like there is no genetic link between blonde girl and dumb. To expect these two kinds of things to naturally be somehow connected is stupid, and to be mad when they're not related is foolish.
There are plenty of good looking guys who are athletic and intelligent. Applying stereotypes from high school sitcoms maybe isn't the way forward, ya think?
I'm ugly but strong reasonably intelligent been bullied all my life so I now fight back litteraly you can't let bullies win people have beat up my little brothers because they don't like me one of the kids shot my brother so I fight back arrested 6 times I am in a gang now we went down their house shot it up then drove away I'm actually 14 but you can do that shot shoot someone's brother because you don't like them

I find nerd-jock culture funny. I will beat any jock or nerd who will try to hurt me physically, for defensive purposes of course. I am an athlete in sports and academics. Such stereotypes hopefully should not exist anymore because of the diversity and the possibilities one can do in this modern time. Maybe it's an American culture? Hopefully not. Just it's stupid.
Im a geek with muscles... and my face won't exactly shatter a mirror... so I can say they do exist... its just that most people judge by the cover not the interior.
There are plenty of guys who are intelligent and attractive. You are basically saying the male equivalent of "all pretty girls are dumb", its just not true.
