How do you know if a guy is only around because they are lonely?

lonely guys like attention, they will be very happy when you give them attention, however be careful! cause that guy might have a long distance relationship with his gf, then he feels lonely so he find other gal to spend the time. Some guys are like that, they can give you sweet, drinks or go chatting with you all the time or text you or even shows some meaning of like to you when he feels lonely. go out together or study together all sometimes shows if he is lonely. you should first asked him wheather he had a girlfriend in the first place b4 treating him good. hope this helps

This is long distance between him and I, I just worry he's only around because he's lonely esp when he asks me to come see him or talk to him because he's lonely

Well first you have to determine if he is lonely or not. If you're the only person he ever hangs out with, that doesn't necessarily mean he's only with you because he's lonely, but if he has other people he can hang out with then obviously he isn't be with you just because he's lonely.

If you're the only one he hangs out with though, try to look at how he acts. Lonely people will typically crave attention and be somewhat clingy. So he'll always be trying to be around you, or talking to you, because he won't want to be alone.

Listen to what he says in conversation. Does he talk about going out / hanging out with other people? Does he compliment you? Does he take an interest in what you have to say? Does he remember what you say when talking to him (specifics). These are all clues that he is interested in you romantically.

You won't know if he is lonely. You are over analyzing it. Do know that he is hanging out with you because he loves the companionship.
