Men, why are you so bad at texting?

My guy friend is such a bad texter! I don't get to see him cause he lives in a different country so texting and calling are the only ways of communication. He is so bad at texting that it annoys the hell out of me. I would send him some long text and he will give one word answer. Sometimes it takes him a long time to reply. Even worse, he doesn't reply at all for few days 😐 He gives reasons that he stays busy. Yeah he does call when he gets time but texting? Nah. Just doesn't work for him. What goes in your mind while testing? Please share.

Let me give you mi insight on this. I think that even though girls and guys are bad at that too, in my opinion guys are the ones who are the baddest at texting. It has happened to me with the guy I like or had a crush on too. I was the one who always texted first but even if I always did the first move at texting he always reply but he never text on his own first. Also I learn that many guys like short and to the point conversations, I used to extend in conversations like for him to know me more so I talk about many things but at the end the guy only answer what he was interest in and not anwer me all the things I ask so I learnd that if he does not answer what I asked I better move on to other topics of conversation and this time make it a quick short text.

Well he does message me first after every few days. He admitted he sucks in replying. But he tries to call me whenever he gets time. Sometimes I feel he doesn't like me much that's why he keeps his texts short. I noticed he would talk to me for a long time when I feel depressed.

Omg I feel ya. My best guy friend/crush is the exact same way. One day we will have a long conversation. Then we won't talk for like a week. I have tried sending him texts but he never replies. When he does it I just give him a taste of his own medicine next time he does text. Ignore it. I know you might be dying inside. But trust me the more you ignore them the more they will text.

Yeah he admits a lot of people complain about this problem of his. I try to ignore him. And then he would knock me and disappear again. Like yesterday he sent me a text with a kiss emoticon (he sometimes tries to be a sweetheart when he gets the idea that I'm mad at him). Then again he disappeared. I just can't keep the conversation going and I hate it :/

Maybe he's not a "texter" I know several people like this both male and female. Sometimes it's the persons phone to. Like one girl I know does this, one word responses and she says she hates getting long texts because of how her phone is. She can't read them easily, she has to scroll and move the screen and it annoys the hell out of her lol.

I'm a shit texter because I rarely text.
I'm more about that mouth to mouth communication.

Also its like real life conversations. Girl often tend to blab on about stuff and guys tend to use less words. When the entire conversation is laid out in text form its obvious to notice this.
When a girl is rambling its acceptable just to nod and smile but it doesn't translate to message form well.

Actually tbh you're an exception. Usually it's the GUYS who are good at texting and the girls who are just complete shit at it.

I think I'm a good conversationalist. He just doesn't text much. And I found out what really makes him talk to me more, it's when I'm really upset and depressed. We sometimes have very deeper level conversation.

Well... it has nothing to do with being a male or a female. It only depends on how much you are attached to precision and formality while writing. Some people, most people, actually, sadly thinks that texting and writing are two completely unrelated things, and by being precise while texting you're annoying. I think otherwise, but it is also true that many people are actually not big fans of my style.
