Why does my 23 year old boyfriend play Yugioh cards?

He says that he only plays the game sometimes but the way I look at it, is an embarrassment.

If its an embarrassment, then why are you with him? I watch the show, read the manga and even own the cards, just never had the chance to build 'dueling' experience when I was growing up. Back in the: 'Girls can't play Yu-Gi-Oh!' era. But I know most of the advanced rules and everything else, so I play the video games instead. As long as it's not taking over your quality time as a couple is there any other problems about him that YOU don't personally like? If not, then you have two choices: Either except the fact he loves playing the game, or dump him. Your choice. Until you make the time and chance to learn about it before dismissing it, you may miss out on something you may grow to actually like and or understanding. But at the same time that is you decision.

For me personally, it has benefits to keep you out of trouble if done correctly and it can boost up your math skills if your not a math fan. Again, not saying you have to like it, but it was your choice to date him. I hate Pornography, but if I found out the person I was with [if I ever chose to date] is into that, what am I going to do? The same choice you have is what I would have: stay or go if things don't change. But I know what my answer is, and now you need to make yours. Overall why be involved with somebody who embarrasses you based on what their into or do? Just pointing it out there.

because trading card games are fun. some like magic, others, yugioh and someone else only plays digital ones like hearthstone.

guess what? the majority of TCG players are adults. there are tournaments where you can play for money and much more.

where's the problem if he only plays it sometimes? the only embarrassing part here is that you are complaining and feel bothered by an insignificant thing like this.
Live and let live, he has a few things he likes and you don't and vice versa. As long as the rest is okay... who cares.

If it's that much of a problem for you then just break up. In that case he has deserved something better anyway, someone who respects him the way he is and doesn't feel embarrassed by a common hobby.

Why would something he likes be an embarrassment? Everyone is free to choose their hobby, I don't get it but I'm not going to hate him for it or tell him otherwise. If it's such a big deal for you then I think you should let him know and tell him how you feel. He should know that his girlfriend isn't into or supporting of his interests and things that make him happy.

I'd say it's a bit immature. But if he has decent job goes to work or he is in University or getting some type of trade at least he is doing something with his life. I'd say if he has a decent life then playing with Yu Gi Oh! cards shouldn't matter.

Why does his hobbies matter?
As long as you enjoy your time together, it shouldn't matter what hobbies he likes when you are apart.
I'm sure you are into things that he isn't into, and he is probably fine with that, because you should also be able to have hobbies you like in your apart time.
