Why does he keep leaving me on read?

This guy keeps sending me different bits and pieces on snapchat. Like photos of himself (silly ones) or ones in the morning that say good morning. I reply back to him but he leaves me on read?
Some of the ones he sends me are specific to me but yet he still leaves me on read or ignores my messages.

he likes you but he doesn't want to come across as needy, hence why he messages you random things but still keeps you on read

Maybe, we were speaking last night and tbh wasn't in the best mood so the conversation went sour.
I dont know how to get him to be the way he was before. Always use to talk through picture messages
