Why does he leave me on read?

I really like this guy, but we rarely talk over text in chats with just us two. Whenever I message him in just our chat, he talks for a bit, and then leaves me on read. This always happens. We’re fiends and all, but I don’t understand why he does that? He talks to me in person, and he mostly starts the conversation, but why does he leave me on read when I text him? We both love cars, so I sent him a car video and he didn’t even reply. I really want this to work with him, and I’d love for him to like me back... but I don’t know how to make it happen if he never replies. Please help me? :(

If he is like me, he probably just doesn't like ongoing conversation through texting. I find it really annoying and prefer to either talk on the phone or meet up. Texting to me is really impersonnal and kinda tedious. He may also not know how to say he doesn't want to text at the moment and/or fears that may be taken the wrong way.

He might not like you if he's leaving you on read just my opinion if he liked u he wouldn't want to stop talking but he may just be shy or nervous talking to you

He probably doesn't like to check his phone often. Usually I keep my phone on mute so I usually miss calls or pms.
