Why does he leave me on read?

I have been texting with this guy for a while and sometimes I take a while to text him back, and when I do he leaves me on read. He only does this when I haven’t answered him in a few hours or so, why does he do this?

It’s a pride thing probably with him. Gets up right that you don’t respond back quickly. I’m sometimes guilty of that

Maybe because you are boring and cannot start a mature intellectual conversation at his level? He is refrained from speaking what he things, because you might call him racist or sexist for being too honest.
