most "nice" (and i use that term facetiously) guys can't handle rejection and would rather blame you than take any responsibility themselves.
when i first started dating online, i had a guy ask me for my fb and phone #. i told him no (since i never give that info to someone i've just met anyway), and he responded with "well, you're obviously a fake bitch if you can't take such a basic next step".

i read an article once that said: "a man's worst fear is that his online date will be fat; a woman's worst fear is that her date will be violent and kill her." and, when guys like the one i encountered threaten and insult us for rejecting them, that fear is definitely justified.

Most losers can't take rejection. This has only happened to me once. The guy walked up to me and asked for my number, I told him I had a boyfriend and he got really upset and called me a bitch.
Beware of the "nice" guys. They are some of the worst ones. I'm not saying the assholes are better but the "I'm such a nice guy" persona is just an act.
I rejected a guy once in high school. We sat next to each other in biology class. He said he would "put me on the sex offender list." No joke.
Many people handle rejection poorly - men and women alike.
Rejection sucks. You have to take a risk and put your feelings out there and be vulnerable, only to be told "no, thanks." It's harsh. And for guys, many are shy or lack confidence, and VERY RARELY ask a girl out. I personally know guys who are lucky to ask out one woman every couple of years. So when you put all your eggs in a single basket, it's hard not to get upset when someone breaks them all.
I'm not excusing their behavior - of course it's wrong and unacceptable, but I'm trying to give you a bit of their perspective. In most cases, the anger and bile is them trying to hide from the pain of rejection, and shouldn't really be taken seriously. They're hurt, and lashing out, but the person they REALLY don't like is themselves.

To answer your question: they don't know how to handle rejection. Probably insecure guys who take it as an insult that you're rejecting them.
Also, some girls do reject in a pretty stuck up way, like if they're superior to them. Not saying that's what you do, but there's girl that do do that, and it's quite disrespectful. Not saying you gotta be rude to them too, but still I could understand some guys getting pissed if they get rejected that way.
But in general, it's because they don't know how to handle rejection.

ever have a day where nothing goes right? well, thats how a guy feels when he gets rejected over and over, he starts getting burnt out and when a girl says no or friendzones him he feels being nice is pointless because nice guys always strike out. And they do... he's just lashing out in frustration. kinda like if you get short with your loved ones after a bad day where nothing goes right. it doesn't mean he isn't genuinely nice or that he's fake, he's just frustrated that once again, he is rejected. This rerun of rejection gets old fast.
sometimes its just a safety mechanism gone wrong type of things, sometimes people are completely an asshole. i know I've responded pretty awful to stuff like that, but i apologized after because i felt bad.. not like i chose to do it, more like that's just what came out

From regretfully having done this myself, I was young and didn't know what I was doing or feeling and it hurt to be told no, so in some way it felt like the person who rejected me was the one who hurt me
Ego. They can't fathom why anyone would reject them, therefore it MUST be your fault and not theirs. Ironically it's exactly this that causes them to be rejected in the first place.
I've been reject so many times that I EXPECT it to happen, and almost disappointed if it doesn't.

Whenever I get rejected, I always turn it in upon myself and believe that I'm not worthy of love, which leads to general depression, which leads to feeling guilty about being depressed, abs inward the vicious downward spiral goes.
They care more about themselves, so they put you down to build themselves up. If they truly cared for you and respected you, the rejection would not change the respect they have for you.
They care more about themselves. They're selfish and insecure. Though is the rejection was nasty sometimes that's a reason too.
It's psychological. Our brains have to satisfy our drive (an intense "need") for love/romance and we act like that when we get rejected because that drive hasn't been "reduced" (as it's called, I don't know why we don't just say "satisfied" smh).
They are insecure and don't know how to respond to rejection like a man.
It's your mistake if you fell for their "nice guy" act. Nice guys always remain nice, you just found people who pretended to be nice but were never nice.

If you've lost count of how many guys have been hostile toward you and spread rumors about you, you should probably stop doing whatever you're doing that causes them to act that way.
