You can choose two routes.
1) Trust: where you believe he's doing this so that no one interrupts him while he's with you, and so all his attention is focused on you.

2) Distrust: where you believe he's doing this because he doesn't want his side chick/s messaging him.

Only he knows the true reason to why he does that, you can ask him why he does it, but 99% chances that he'll say #1, whether it's true or not.
So really all you gotta do is choose between trusting his word or snooping around his phone to see if he has other chicks, so then you'd have chosen #2, which makes me want to ask you this question: if you don't trust him, why are you two in a relationship?

I would say it bc he don't want you seeing something... I think that bc it's sorta what I did lol... I stopped all my notifications from coming in when my phone was locked... but u could just be an trusting person and let it go... but yes who really does that
