Because our world doesn't revolve around a specific woman. Plenty other things to do in a day. Plus, unless I'm dating the woman, I don't owe them any form of reply or even a sign that I read it. Mostly I just have higher priorities, however.

I reply as soon as I can but I also got criticized for replying too quickly. Or sometimes I couldn't reply quickly because I was driving. I got criticized when I actually said that I was driving. It didn't matter to them
