So I was finally able to muster up the courage to DM the guy I’ve like on instagram. He is my cousin’s best friend and I’ve known him for as long as I can remember (5 years old). We are both now in high school, I am 15 and he is 17. He was really nice to me last year and asked me questions about what sports I was doing at the moment etc. and I would hang out with him and my cousin, but this past year I began to see less of him and I was really wondering why? I DMed him yesterday saying this:

“Hi, Corbin (his name) :) It’s been quite a while since I’ve last heard or seen from you! My Tía says she hasn’t seen you around much either. I occasionally catch David (my cousin) around the hallways but haven’t seen much of you lately. How’s everything been going?”

And it’s been 24 hours since I sent that and he hasn’t responded. I know he definitely saw it because of the change in followers he had and I’m not dumb to not notice that, I’m really upset because I thought he was nice and all and I wasn’t flirting with him, I simply asked how he was doing. Why would he do that?

There should be a read receipt if he saw it. Sometimes they read it and get caught up in something else before responding then get side tracked. Approach him in person or send a snap-picture with something subtle like "how are you"

He has a private account, so in order for some new to follow him he has to accept their request, meaning that he was on instagram and saw it.
