He did not answer my dm?

Ok so this guy and I are friendly. And he has even initiated conversation in-person between us before. I dm’d him around a day ago asking him a question and have since not gotten a response. He has been active on instagram since then. We have an event at school and now I fear it will be uncomfortable seeing him there due to this. I actually dm’d him asking if he was going to the event that my friends and I are going. Should I revoke my dm? Maybe he just sees us as friends

Ty for your input everyone! I thought I’d provide a little update. I posted something today and he liked it but didn’t respond to the dm still which I found weird. It’s the first time he’s liked one of my posts too. And he almost seemed like he was going to speak to me today when I saw him in person.

No you're not doing anything wrong and sometimes you can't get an answer when you want it..
I mean I don't even get on my phone or my computer that often to even see my DMs I wish I did but it's usually a couple days or something passes before I even notice it you're not doing anything wrong you're just being friends and that's what you are at the moment so just be patient

DM is like emails. They are low value communication. I do not put importance in low value issues.

I’d say to just let it go for now. It’s not the end of the world or epitome of humiliation if he doesn’t respond to your message. This outcome was always a possibility, like there’s always a chance that making a move won’t change anything, and it was worth taking into consideration before DMing him.

If he’s liking your post then that shows he’s on Instagram and therefore not opening or responding to your question on purpose. Why? Because it’s avoidant. Unless there’s a way for him to preview the message then he doesn’t know what could be in it and doesn’t wanna touch it. Try not to take it personal or feel any kind of way, I highly doubt he has anything against you. He just doesn’t want to engage on a personal, messaging level. Could be because he has a woman in his life too, doesn’t have to be serious or public, they may be private. Or he doesn’t know what to expect and avoiding it. If I were you I wouldn’t respond once he does. Like it’s been days, that topic is over.
