Guys, how important is texting a girl to you?

I've noticed an intriguing common complaint amongst me and my girlfriends in the dating scene - texting/social media engagement. For girls, especially early on when we're seeing someone, we read that as an indicator of interest. But sometimes it's lacking from the beginning while the guy is great and attentive in person, other times it starts off great then as you date the guy longer it starts to fade to every few day texts/snaps/etc instead of every day, other times it's non-existant and stays that way until the girl goes crazy and either ruins it with the guy or moves on to someone else.

In any case, girls read into this A LOT. Always. Everything from the times of day texts are sent, the emojis used or not used, the length of sentences, if you've been on social media and not texted us back, and... especially... the amount of time it takes you to respond, is analyzed on our ends.

So I'm curious what your guys' take on this is? Do you even give it a second thought?

I text as often as I feel is necessary to stay on her mind. It's probably every 3-ish days. I'll have bunch of ideas or topics for conversations I'm willing to text about and then spread those topics out so every few days I can have a little text exchange with her. I don't actually want to text that much, it's basically just a courtesy because girls like texting for some reason.

Little jokes here and there, how was your day? good nights and mood mornings that's all. That's all I really want to text her. If she wants to tell me stuff then I suppose that's okay. It's because I'd much rather see her, I don't want to have a good conversation over text if it can be helped, so I sort of save things I want to talk about until I see her.

As things progress, especially if we're official then I doubt I'd be texting that much. Just flirty stuff, organizing things and the occasional goodnight.

Part of the point of 'getting the girl' to be able to stop doing all that extra stuff and just enjoy the girl and the relationship. We want to 'get the girl' so we can stop carefully crafting texts everyday, so we can stop worrying about the clothes we wear in front of her, so we don't have to get dressed up and go out on dates all the time, instead just staying in together and chilling.

For me, texting slowly fades over time on purpose. I'm deliberately letting it fade steadily so it's less of a shock than just not texting at all.

This makes a lot of sense. I'm in a situation where things have escalated pretty quickly that we're basically in a relationship without the label yet. I wonder if he's deliberately fading it out now because I've definitely noticed a change... his grandma also passed away last week though so I'm mindful of that too...

The biggest factor for me is *I don't want to have a good text conversation.*
Talking about someone I'm actually interested in having a proper conversation about means I'd just rather see you and talking with my face and my hands and use vocal inflections and see you smile, hear you, that's what it's all about after all. I want to have good conversations in person instead of just chuckling at my phone by myself. It's not the same.

I like to text frequently but if I find that I am the one starting most of the conversations or sharing the most, then I will back off.

This is why many dating coaches claim that text and phone calls should only be used in the beginning to set up dates and on to hold conversation. This is because you want to save the interesting conversation for when you are in person and oftentimes it is difficult to relay all the information you want to through text or on the phone. A large part of communication, especially sexual and flirting, is body language.

Once in a relationship, I would expect her to send me more text than I do her, but if she sent me lots of texts I wouldn't ignore her and would mirror her frequency.

It's interesting how we differ. I like texting, more than voice calling or meeting in person. I'm too awkward and shy in face to face contact, also I stutter, so it makes me even more nervous talking to a guy the normal way. I know most guys prefer the traditional way of communicating though, cause they see texting as a waste of time.

Guy dont typically care about texting and a lot it them are just bad texters. Most avoid if they can and just prefer to speak in person.

if i like a girl (like i did with my wife) i'd text her or communicate with her every day. texting is a form of communication and if i really like someone i generally would want to communicate with them daily if possible

Texting ehhh. I mean I get why some people see it as important, but it doesn't take a huge part of my life. I'd rather talk things in person or by the call rather than texting because texting is frankly... impersonal.

I find women expect responses to statements that don't need a response... Almost like they think they have asked a question.
E. g. "will be finishing late." "I'm not feeling well." "I'm going to the pub tonight."

I can't speak for any other guys out there, but texting isn't an option on the job or while driving. While I check my phone for messages, the phone is not a priority during the day.

It's exciting at the beginning get to know each other, then you just don't know what you can talk about beside asking how she is and good morning/good night texts lol

I hate texting, I find that there's only so much you can talk about and it kills the excitement of meeting someone because you haven't had time to miss them. A bits fine.

It is a nice gesture but Don't text too much also try to keep it playful dont discuss about your mutual friends love affairs or the struggle of your grandparents and stuff lol.
