Why would it make more sense to make guy characters? Because I am one? Why does that make sense? I am me, so I'm not interested in still playing myself in a game. Most people don't identify with their character, they more often identify *as* their character.
I usually play girls, at least at first because that's the character I want to exist and that I enjoy being in the company of for the next 50 hours of gameplay. That's why my first character in a game (assuming I have a character creation option) will usually be a cute redhead, who turns out to be awesome and makes all the choices I would within the context of the game, go figure. :P

I don't see the character as a reflection of myself, but rather as a story I want to help tell.
I prefer stories featuring female characters. I prefer thinking about girls, looking at girls, etc.
So for example my first D&D character was a female sword-and-board fighter. I really liked that character because I'm attracted to strong women, and I re-created her in skyrim when that came out.
It's all about the story I want to tell, and I'm more interested in a story if it's about a woman.
Afaik, most guys don't want to stare at a guy's arse the whole time while playing. Apart from that-
Many video game creators haven't figured out yet how to make good-looking male characters, at least when it comes to character creation.
I know in mass effect femshep is just the better choice, voice actors much better in my opinion.
Well, I don't know, but I always play as a female character, haha

I don't put too much immersion into the characters I play. For instance it is hard to imagine myself being a chiseled galaxy-saving hero. The character I'm playing is a different person, so why can't it be a hot woman who's ass I will stare at for 30 hours?
I play as both genders for representation. My COD WWII is the Asian woman, because how many Asian non-martial arts related protagonist do you ever see in Western games? How many are females? People made them out to be weak, shy, and submissive. I want to change that and make them badass.
As for other games, I play as everyone, regardless of gender or race.Because dudes don't want to watch another dude's repeated grunting from being hit or jumping.. And, male characters in games are often poorly designed and awkwardly huge.
let's say I'm playing a 3rd person game, I'd much rather stare at a girls ass than a guys ass while playing
I've done it before to pretend to be a girl and get lots of free shit from my guild. Works like a charm on those horny 18 year old boys haha
Not sure, just have a preference for them I guess, but mostly I try both anyway as long as it has a different effect in terms of dialog or different view of the world.
For fun and cause I can. In munchkin the board game it seems like female perks come up more even though it is even.
For a lot of third person games you're kind of staring at someone's back for hours. Might as well stare at a girl's back than a man's.
I play both men and women in video games. Can't exclude a character just because. Often times, the character and story fits pretty well. I really liked Heavenly Sword
So that when we lose that game we can say that it was HER fault 😏
I don't like to. Maybe because it's different than their usual character
Because only male characters can be boring. Like in Pokemon Crystal when they introduced female protagonists, I chose her, even though I'm a guy.
Because a lot of players are teen boys and if they think you're really a girl they almost always help your char
cuz most of the female characters are sexualised and we like it i guess
Men secretly dream about being women... lol
Because we like to look at girls
Yes, all the time. What do you think about that?
We just enjoy being the opposite sex for once.
I'm already a man in real life.
Why do you waste your life on a video game?
