Also, guys who play typical female games like dress-up
Supposedly, some male players of RPG games with "3rd person camera only" choose female characters so they don't have to state at male butt for the whole gameplay.
So I guess it depends on game? Like as long as you don't pretend to be female in MMORPGs must to get some benefits from other players... On the other hand, in FPS game you don't even see your character so playing as the opposite sex could be seen as deceitful,...
And when I used to play singleplayer RPG games I always picked what I thought that would fit the species and class the most based on game's lore (like if the lore would say most of Troll shamans are female because of some heritage thingy or that mostly dwarven males formed roaring bands or pillagers,...).

I always played as a female character, given the option...
however... I have never played a game to "dress up" characters, that's a very different thing... lol
that's my niece would play when she was like 6 or so... lol
In Smash Bros, one of the best characters is Isabelle. It doesn't make a difference if you are male or female and playing as Isabelle. She is a certified badass.
Girls typically are smaller in shooter games so no. Easier to avoid being killed

Of the few times I played a MMO, I subconsciously went with male. I dunno, find it hard to RP a woman. When it comes so singleplayer RPG's like Mass effect, I don't really mind, or intentionally play the other sex in the second run. If it's a good game there may be some differences in the story.
Research has been done on this. Men prefer a female character and women prefer a male character.
Also, I play both genders so I can unlock all the gender-specific story content in the game.
Unfortunately in most games the female model has much better options and style in clothing. For example in monster hunter, the males are way to big and brawny. The armor is huge and unappealing. The female armor looks sleek and awesome. It’s actually unfair. So it depends on the game. If you are talking about Sims, then yes there may be something weird.
No. Why should there be/ If you're a girl playing Monopoly and you choose the guy in the top hat as your piece, or the race car, does THAT mean anything? What if you pick the dog? Nobody knows if it's a male or female dog.
No, especially if said character actually PLAYS differently- but an onlooker might not know that.
The game part is totally fine, especially if it’s an anime one. The dress up thing on the other hand…. Well, I guess it’s fine if you mean like, a guy’s version of it. Trying on suits and stuff like that
You cannot be a princess.
I also thought it was weird lol unless she's the main character of the game I don't see why you you'd purposely wanna pick a girl character and play dress up
A lot of guys don't mind playing a female character.
A lot of girls will only choose to play a female character if they have the option.I always choose a girl because its easy to avoid being killed
Its very weird next thing he will come out as transgender that's how it all starts.
It's okay nothing wrong. I was playing Pubg as a female character.
It’s a bit odd.
It's fun to roleplay, isn't it?
Not at all. Enjoy your game how you want
It doesn't matter.
