My guy friend doesn’t let me pay for ANYTHING, why?

He would stop at work during my breaks with Starbucks, bring me lunch during my lunch breaks and just now I insisted on paying and he had his money ready and the lady took it even though I had my card out.

Is it a guy thing? Like it doesn’t make any sense for someone who’s just a friend.. right?

Some women believe a guy should pay for everything, so if he ran into one of those women then it may have skewed his version of relationships. Some guys have also been raised to be chivalrous and old fashioned so he could be doing that because that's what he feels is the right thing to do. If that's true he could also believe that this is how relationships do work. Some people find happiness in giving and this could be his way of finding happiness.

I wouldn't wouldn't worry about it unless he expects something from you in return.

Some would misinterpret this as "old fashioned"... but is is more instinctual than anything else. Just like it is in MOST species on the planet, human males have an instinctual "need" to protect and support the female. That is what this stems from. We have built a society/culture where money has become a "need'... so it is in his instinct to protect and support you in this area... which yes it is because he views you as a possible partner.

I dont know what my girlfriend is earning but I know what she is working so i know its a lot less. So i dont mind paying even when we were just dating.
