Why did he do this?

I was hanging out with my guy friend and we were sitting together on a swing. First of all he put his hand on mine and I said nothing because I like him anyways then he was like omg I'm so sorry that was an accident. Second my shoelaces untied and he literally dived to the ground to tie them for me. (I didn't ask him to tie them). Was the hand touch really an accident? Why did he tie my shoelaces for me?

Maybe he didn't sense that you were receptive to him doing that. Did you move your hand to hold his, or just sit there?

By not moving your hand to hold his hand or respond at all, he thought you didn't want him to do that. That's why he apologized. The shoelace was probably just a nervous reaction and him trying to break the tension. It probably took a ton of guts for him to make that move, and now he feels rejected.
