Should I consider dating a guy who treats me like a princess but is physically not my type?

Well this guy is a "nerd" (I don't know how else to describe him, he's a total genius) and he's got a fun, nice personality but he's physically not my type. He is however, totally obsessed with me. We're on friendly terms with each other and although we don't know each other that well he's compeletely enamoured by me.

He just can't take his eyes off of me and can tell how I'm feeling just by looking at my face. He is also awfully concerned about my health and well being. In short, he treats me like a total princess. These qualities are something I really want in my partner. My first love was totally immature so I really appreciate the qualities that this guy has. Should I consider dating him or not?

If you feel attracted to him not on a physical level but personality, you could consider dating him. women can develop feelings later in a relationship and still love as much - and sometimes it's better for women to love a bit less, because they still gonna give everything they have to the person who loves them

however, if you just want a temporary fling, don't do it. you will just hurt his feelings and he may lose some of his caring traits that he has now

I don't think your type matters at all. What does matter is, do you think you would ever develop any romantic feelings for him? Based on this text, it seems like you are considering dating him to make yourself feel better. Which is a definite no-no. Don't date someone just because they treat you nicely, if you don't feel anything. It's just going to end in a break-up and wasting both of your time.

No I don't think I want to date him to make myself feel better, he's not the only guy who gives me special attention. It's just like I said, he has some really great qualities which I'd love for a potential partner to have.

However, it is true that I don't feel anything for him in a romantic sense. I'm very flattered by how he treats me but I think that's just it. I don't see myself falling for him head over heels like he's already fallen for me.

I've already explained that my first ever romantic experience with a guy was very bad. He was very emotionally immature in complete contrast to this guy.

I think you should date who you want there is pro's and con's not always but yes the hot guy is hot but he knows he is wanted by women yes the not hot guy we'ddill know he is lucky to have you but might have a bad attitude due to always being judged and passed over or play for me I feel looks are great but looks don't make the person who they are it's their personality and attitude that makes them who they are. Just how I am and my thoughts

When we say that he isn't your type, are we saying that about features that he can help, or features that he can't? Like if he's a bit too chubby, you dating him, and you being willing to put the effort in to get him where you need him to be will make you the girlfriend of every man's dreams.

Both things which he can and can't help. Like I usually go for a totally different type of guy.

You know something? I think you should give a go. I really do... Because where has your type gotten you before? If you shoot for emotional substance, and you make it absolutely clear that you are just looking to see where things go, then it's not like you are misleading the guy. You are just giving him a shot...

Most people's type isn't a very realistic goal anyway... I know that mine sure as hell isn't.

Well that's what I'm afraid about. He seems pretty intense with regards to his feelings for me. When I said he's obsessed and enamoured I really did mean it. I'm afraid if things don't work out he may go all crazy on me or something.

Also, my type is a realistic goal I think lol.

Everybody thinks that their type is realistic... That's why I'm telling you it isn't. It's YOUR type, it's as unique as you are.

I understand your concern about his reaction though, but I think that you need to ask yourself whether or not you really trust this guy as your friend. The happiest couples I have ever met were willing to take chances on something different.

If you were open to the possibility of dating him, you wouldn't be speaking in absolutes. You would say things like "I'm usually more of a Brunette girl, and he's a blonde, but he has such pretty eyes."

I'm speaking in absolutes? 😅 Well I didn't know I was coming across like that

Haha, no worries. I'm just saying that I don't want you to get into a relationship, if you're not really feeling the relationship. It'll make you miserable, and turn him into a woman-hater. Everybody loses, you know?

As long as you are at least a little attracted to him then you may become more attracted over time while getting attached. However, if you aren't physically attracted to him at all then it won't work.

Yeah I guess so but I had liked his personality even before he developed an infatuation with me. Also, I like him platonically not romantically.
