Am I just a "spare tire" friend to her?

i hate this feeling.. I like this girl and she knows it, but we still remained as friends now.. I often ask her out for dinner but lately when I tried to ask her out, she would agreed to me in the first place as she tells me she doesn't have any event on, but in end she would text me saying that she can't make it cos she is meeting her friends instead.. so what does this means? am I just a "spare tire" friend to her? does she really treat me as her friend? this is make me looks ridiculous..

Sadly, a lot of girls do this to the guys who want to be with them, just because they can't stand being alone. Lay down some rules. If she respects and truly cares for you she will work for the FRIENDSHIP, and that's all it is unless she commits to something more, Don't give out those perks for free! If she can't agree to it, cut her loose. It won't be easy, but its better for you in the long run to begin healing and moving forward as soon as you can if she's not going to give you a shot.

It sounds to me as if she's not really interested in being anything more than friends but doesn't have the spine to tell you. She's hoping that if she continues to say "no," eventually you'll give up and she won't find herself in a position where she has to tell you the truth.

I'd talk to her and then ask her for an honest, straight-forward answer. As your friend the least should could do is grant that request.
