Boyfriend has low self-esteem

What can I do to help him? Not therapy or anything but things a girlfriend could do.

We've been seeing each other for about a month, it's been "official" for a few days, though.

He thinks he's ugly, and brings himself down a lot of times. He seems happy most of the time with me, but he makes small negative comments about himself.

What can I do? He doesn't believe me when I tell him I think he's attractive. He's so sweet. I like him a lot.

ok this might sound mean but its helped me before...what you want to do is kind of set him up...find a REALLY REALLY hot guy then arrange for him to "met" you in a very public place where you will be with your boyfriend...when the hot guy sees you he should put a real effort into flirting with you then turn to the hot guy look him up and down then turn to your boyfriend and kiss him with a passion that will make his toes curl...seeing you shoot down someone he thinks is better looking than he is will boost his self esteem and make him feel more secure in how interested in him YOU are so that he knows your not just waiting for someone better looking to show an interest before moving on to "greener pastures".

Oh, that's a good idea. But my boyfriend is a sagittarius and if I play a game like that, It'd hurt his ego and I'd p[robably lose him for good because his self esteem would be shot. :/ I don't wanna be mean about it, Maybe Instead of doing that I person I can TELL him a hotter guy was coming onto me.. and kinda rub his ego a little and make him feel like the hotter guy was nothing compared to him or something idk..

that would work as well make sure you tell him how every time the guy that was hitting on you said something to you all you could think of was kissing him (boyfriend) or being in his arms...but I would suggest that BEFORE you tell him about it you give him the toe curling kiss AS SOON as you walk through the door and then tell him something like "sorry babe but I just wanted to kiss you so bad because..." THEN tell him about the guy that was hitting on you... hope it helps.

tell him that you honestly think about him. like, I had a boyfriend who was really insecure.. and thought he wasn't the best looking or whatever .. like, one time .. we were watching a movie and I mentioned the guy in the movie was hot .. since he had said the same thing about the girl .. but it really got to him. I forget what he had said exactly, but something like "do you think he's better looking than me? obviously he is, any guy is" or something, and he looked really sad. and I told him "hey.. don't talk like that. I think you're perfect. 100% perfect. don't you ever think you're less than that." and after that, he never felt self conscious again :)

i think he just needs you to listen, be there for him.

but he really shouldn't be wasting time pitying himself..

if he's got a good, pretty girlfriend. he should realize that you're

going out with him because you love him the way he is .

What comes to mind is whereabouts you to are going out to ? Don't go to the beach, Don't go to the bars or pubs with him as there will usually be more attractive people there which will kill his self esteem.

Go to The movies or spend a lot of Alone time with him.

we are both homebodie's so we do spend a lot of alone time, at the movies, walking around etc. Any other tips ?
