I think my crush has low self esteem?

So my friend Amy is awesome. She nice and smart and gets super good grades. She's a people person and everyone I know like her. She can make anyone laugh and he's great.
Today I told her she was pretty an he replied with "don't day that, I'm not pretty". She had the most serious look I've ever seen. It was almost scary hearing how serious her voice was. But I dot get it, she's dresses really nice everyday (won superlative for best dressed). She's not fat, in fact she's really curvy with a nice bum and big boobs. and she takes care of herself but she doesn't think she's pretty. I just don't know what's up with that. Also how can I make her realize she's cute

It's a girl thing. It makes her comfortable to hear that. She probably doesn't have low self-esteem but keep saying it bc she likes hearing but doesn't know what to say. So when she says that sat no really you are beautiful.

Yeah she has a low self esteem, I think she might feel like that maybe because she's curvy? I don't know and you should just give her compliments like umm you like her outfit or her shoes, hair etc..

Frankly, I, like many other people, had some pretty serious body image issues all through high school and a ways into college, and there really isn't anything anyone could have said to raise my self-esteem given how deeply ingrained the negative method of thinking was. There is so much negative pressure from the media (of course), peers, and family to look a certain way for both guys and gals. From my experience, learning to love oneself is something people have to realize themselves, which can be a very slow, painstaking process. In the meantime, if you want to compliment her, focus on what makes her awesome: her person, and be sincere, but don't layer it on too thick, or it could come across as offensive or insincere (weird, I know).
