I have a huge crush on a coworker and it seemed like he would flirt and do all these things to let me know he was interested too. I told him how I felt and he just said it was OK. We stayed friends and he would hug me & flirt with me. He would stare at me like he wanted me too, he would gaze over my face and my lips and hair so I thought he was changing his mind but its been awhile and I'm starting to think he just says enough to keep me hanging on because he likes knowing someone at work is into him. It pumps his ego to compensate for whatever low self esteem he has. Why do guys do this? I'm humiliated and feel embarrassed that I was used like that and I didn't even get anything out of it!

Well if you want to get something out of it then invite him to your house. If he is single then he won't refuse. Of course the other option is to switch to co-worker mode and half way ignore him and don't hug him. Don't give him any hints to your intentions and just lead him on. It will drive him crazy. Its your choice. Personally I would go with getting something out of it but then again I am a guy.

sucks doesn't it? I've done it plenty and had plenty of girls do it to me (once its happened to me a lot it made me feel bad about doing it to others but its still hard to stop, for attention or flattery or w/e)

I had the same exact thing happen to me...this guy was acting very into me especially once he realized I liked him back he made it more obvious. Then I found out he had a girlfriend while doing this stuff. So may be just something to feed his ego while he is at work. Who knows. I know it sucks. Just ignore him and move on. That is what I did. It is their loss.
